Development and application of cerebral blood volume measurement techniques (VASO, multi-echo fMRI,
DSC MRI) at high magnetic field strengths
Development of functional cerebral blood volume measurement approaches, test of feasibility for applications
in neurodegenerative disorders, suitable for high field strengths (3T and 7T).
Application of functional MRI methods to understand patho-physiology of Alzheimer s disease
Multi-parametric MR imaging (fMRI, VASO, DTI, Chemical Exchange and Saturation Transfer (CEST) and T1rho) to
identify hemodynamic, genetic and cognitive biomarkers to identify early onset of Alzheimer s disease
Application of functional MRI methods to understand patho-physiology of Schizophrenia
Implementation of a combined protocol for steady state imaging and dynamic susceptibility contrast imaging
approached with a single dose of contrast agent (Magnevist) to identify abnormal blood volume and flow in
the hippocampus in Schizophrenia, Experimental evaluation of the relaxivity of Magnevist
Development of novel MR methods to quantify lymphatic flow
Development of a non-invasive MR imaging protocol, based on spin labeling methods, to study lymphatic flow
and lymph node structure to identify risk of secondary lymphedema, following surgery, especially breast tissue
removal
Development of VASO approaches to study muscle function:
Development of a fat suppressed, flow compensated VASO method to study skeletal muscle contraction and
recovery and comparison with standard NIRS approach
