Acted as Lead Oracle DBA in support of 40 Oracle databases for Devon Energy Corporation
in Oklahoma City and Houston. The databases were used by a wide array of geology related
packaged applications. Custom applications as well as a custom data warehouse also
utilized a few of the databases. Provided support to 200+ users and one fulltime Oracle
developer for database related issues.
Ten of the databases ran on a HP 9000s running HP-UX, twenty-eight ran on various Sun
architectures running Solaris 2.6, and the remaining two databases ran on a Compaq server
running Windows NT 4.0. Database architectures or methods included; Data Warehouse, OLTP,
distributed, and Oracle Web Application Server.

Worked on a project as an Oracle DBA consultant for the City of Tulsa Police Department.
I supported nine Oracle7/8 databases. Production databases used Oracle's Standby Database
feature for failsafe recovery. Four of the nine databases were 7x24 systems. Database
architectures or methods included; Data Warehouse, OLTP, Data Warehouse stored on a CDROM
tower, replicated, distributed, and Oracle Web Application Server. One database ran on
Windows NT 4.0 and the others ran on Unix. Performed tuning of the databases using Oracle
Enterprise Manager, DB Vision, Savant "Q", and self-made SQL programs. Setup, installed,
and maintained various Oracle products and other products related to the databases, such
as Designer/2000. Supported eleven developers with their development efforts and performed
other Oracle related support or consulting as needed.

Performed maintaince and tuning of the Oracle7 databases. Installed and setup various
Oracle products, webservers, client server based applications, networking products and
Unix OS tools. Enhanced and created new modules to interact with the front-end
applications, using SQL*Forms 3.0, SQL*Menu 5.0, PL/SQL and various HTML editors.
Developed disaster and point-in-time backup and recovery procedures for the Oracle
database and the Unix OS. Conducted user training and support for both of the
Universities' libraries.
All applications ran on a NCR 3550 with a Unix V 4.2 as the primary O/S and Windows NT as
the secondary O/S, with Oracle7 RDBMS as the backbone database. The front-end applications
consisted of over 500 tables with approximately 800,000 core records in one database and
1.2 million records in a second database. The front-end applications ran in three modes,
one being a character based applications written in Oracle Forms 3.0 and SQL*Menu 5.0,
another being a WWW environment written in C using Oracle procedures, triggers, and
packages to format data packets for transmission between the WWW server and the Oracle
database, and the last being a client server package also written in C using SQL*Net as
the protocol between the host and the client. All connections to the Oracle database were
established by means of ethernet, serial, and Internet connections. I acted as the
director of my office with full responsibilities of all budgeting, future enhancements,
procedures, and policies. I supervisied one and sometimes up to three Graduate Computer
Science students.

Developed programs to feed data between the University StudentInformation System (SIS)
and the Universities' libraries Oracle database system, by means of SQL and FOCUS.
Performed maintaince, enhancements, and user support/training of the SIS system and the
University Alumni Development System (ADS). Both applications ran on a VAX/VMS 6410
platform. The SIS system supported over 100 users and the ADS system supported over 25
users. Support and training consisted of VMS e-mail, FOCUS Report Writer, and SIS/ADS
application usage. Enhancements consisted of debugging and correcting the SIS and ADS
systems, creating new modules to interact with the existing systems by means of VMS COBOL,
FOCUS, DCL or VMS Assembly languages. Researched, implemented, and supported a Optical
Imaging system for the University Registrars office. Created and implemented backup and
recovery procedures for the Optical Imaging system, as well as creating additional modules
to interact with the system.
