Intellectual Pursuits Outside of Music
Traditional archery: target shooting and hunting with a wooden long bow and cedar
shafted arrows with turkey feathers. I have participated in many traditional archery
competitions, winning 2nd place quite often!
Fencing: I have studied the Olympic styles of saber, foil and epee, in addition to
Japanese Kendo and renaissance style rapier combat. As an excuse to wear my
swords in public I can sometimes be found dressing up in Renaissance costume
with my wife Susan and attending a renaissance fair. While in graduate school he
even performed for a time in an archery show at several fairs across Texas.
In conjunction with these aforementioned intellectual pursuits I enjoy the study of
medieval and renaissance history in my free time.
Attending theatre productions at HSU such as Titanic.
Attending art shows at HSU.
Attending the occasional football game.
Attending Cornerstone events.
