Shape optimization for structural fracture using XFEM (Ph.D. Research) May 2005 Present

Optimized shape of structural components under fatigue fracture for maximum service life.

The process is very efficient as XFEM facilitates crack growth simulation without re meshing.

Increased service life by 85% and reduced weight by 24% using proposed design process.
