Experience

Office Manager. Managed a wide variety of responsibilities within a very busy private physicianaaas practice, multi-tasking while maintaining a pleasant, professional attitude at all times. Accurately screened patients for demographic and insurance information as well as obtaining medical histories. Maintained a date sensitive referral file, contacting many area physicians to secure these referrals. Scheduled all surgical procedures; accurately completing all hospital booking forms that included patient demographics, procedural terminology and coding of these procedures, obtained prior authorizations with multiple insurance companies and was instrumental in the process of appealing those authorizations when they were denied. Worked closely with our billing service to resolve patient issues whenever required. Additionally, scheduled patients for upcoming appointments, maintained an accurate, detail oriented filing system, delivered reports, obtained reports and faxed all patient documentation to multiple area physicians, maintained supplies and the ordering thereof, collected co-pays and accurately detailed those payments for our billing service whenever required, personally contacted each patient for the next days schedule to confirm their appointment. This involved calling approximately 40-50 patients every day.

Clinical Secretary. Primary responsibilities within this position were to contact upcoming patients and interview them for demographic, insurance and a detailed medical history. The data entry of this information had to be extremely accurate, especially the medical history as this data was used to determine the safety of the patient to scan following specific protocol determined by Shieldaaas. Additionally, we scheduled patients, obtained operation reports from physicians when necessary, obtained co-pays when applicable, printed MRI reports, reviewed for accuracy and faxed to the appropriate physician. I also directly participated in and played an integral role in the start up process of our facilities MRI Breast Scanning, which involved developing protocol directly related to the safety and scheduling of each potential patient.

Medical Office Assistant. Worked directly with the physician to accurately obtain medical information regarding each patient. Responsible for the sterile set up and prep of each office procedure performed by the physician. Also, conducted all x-rays and developed them and it was my responsibility as well to cast all patients for their orthotics. Turned over and cleaned each room after appointments were completed. Additionally, maintained the supply room inventory and placed weekly orders for those supplies, answered the phones, scheduled patients, and worked closely with the Office Manager to ensure the efficient function of each days responsibilities.

Coding Specialist, Medical Records Department. Responsible for the accurate and precise medical coding of all outpatient services conducted within the hospital and the data entry of this information.
