FUNCTIONAL RESUME EXPERIENCE: [TECHNICAL] Capital Projects

Lead engineer for TETRA Technologies, Inc. (TETRA) responsible for the design of a $6M liquid calcium chloride plant in Parkersburg, WV. Recipient of TETRA Outstanding Service Award for work on this project. As lead engineer my responsibilities included: Process modeling; Plant economic evaluation; Generation of the process description, PFDs and P&IDs; Supervised and reviewed detailed engineering; Conducted plant vessel acceptance testing; Developed and conducted operator training; Developed and programmed process control human-machine interface; Provided ongoing construction and environmental permitting support; and Supervised plant start-up. Engineer in charge of a "fast track" new product delivery for the Parkersburg plant. The "fast track" required going from a laboratory formulation for the new product to delivery of the product in less than 5 weeks. Responsible for securing both environmental and construction permits, material and equipment specifications, equipment procurement, construction supervision, operator training and process start-up. Engineer in charge of the design and installation of process control and data acquisition equipment for Unocal Corporation's geothermal development at The Geysers, Sonoma County, CA.Automated steam gathering system for several 110 MW power plants. Designed instrumentation, power, signal and communication systems. Developed and awarded bid packages for the equipment installation, supervised material procurement and construction. Total capitol cost of $7 M for 6 systems. Engineer at Metcalf & Eddy in charge of turnkey demineralizer for plating shop rinse water at McClellan Air Force Base, Sacramento, California. The system consisted of both a source and product storage vessel, parallel media filters, parallel ion-exchange systems, and a water distribution system. Supervised construction, start-up and operational testing of the system. Engineer in charge of the design and construction of several geothermal steam pipelines. Responsible for all facets of the pipeline project including permitting, right-of-way selection, pipeline routing, stress analysis, bid package preparation, construction management and start-up. Engineer in charge of various environmental cleanup systems. Projects included soil vapor extraction and groundwater treatment systems. Software Projects As lead engineer in charge of the TETRA Parkersburg, WV, plant developed model for integration of Wonderware InTouch process control software with Microsoft Access database for plant process control and production reporting. Self taught Wonderware InTouch 7.0 [InTouch] during the 3 month development period. Assumed lead InTouch PROGRAMMER position after software consultant failed to provide a high quality work product. Rewrote InTouch application and provided primary InTouch programming support for plant start-up. Sole engineer in charge of the implementation of a Wonderware Industrial SQL 7.1 [InSQL] server system for data collection and distribution for both the TETRA Lake Charles, LA liquid and dry calcium chloride plants and the TETRA Parkersburg, WV liquid plant. Responsible for the specification and installation of the required hardware and software for the InSQL server system. Trained plant personnel in the use of Factory Office suite of InSQL server client applications. Currently in the planning stages of implementing Intranet access to plant production and inventory reports via Internet web browser. Currently assuming responsibility for maintenance and programming of several Allen Bradley PLC5 Plus programmable logic controllers for the TETRA Lake Charles and Parkersburg facilities. Developed Microsoft Excel process model for liquid calcium chloride plant design and economic evaluation. Process model includes significant Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) script work. EXPERIENCE: [MANAGERIAL] Research Projects Engineer in charge of research project to evaluate process changes for calcium chloride plant. Project duties include collecting and analyzing process fluids, development of theoretical models to describe process behavior, and optimization of process. Environmental Remediation Project Manager in charge of groundwater remediation effort. In addition to engineering duties for the project acted as primary client and agency contact. Completed ongoing regulatory and compliance reporting. Computer Information Systems Manager in charge of the implementation of a local area network for a medium size engineering firm.
