Provide leadership, delivery and support for extension and research program in

engineering systems related to environmental quality management of animal feeding

operations in Texas.

Develop and implement nationally recognized educational, technology transfer, and

research programs that address water quality, air quality and manure management issues

related to livestock and poultry feeding operations.

Guide graduate student research, and provide engineering leadership to interdisciplinary

and interagency programs involving improved manure and wastewater practices, air and

water quality protection, manure utilization and design of environmentally sustainable

facilities.

livestock production, processing systems, and environmental quality in a 14 county

central Iowa area.

including waste handling, storage, and utilization, and livestock housing; soil

conservation and water management--including conservation tillage and soil-air-water-

Involved in installation of 154 floodwater-retarding structures on a 160,000 acre

watershed project in four southeast Iowa counties. Designed structures and drafted plans

using CADD system.

Performed and plotted surveys of the proposed dam sites using state-of-the-art surveying

equipment and computer programs. Assisted with contract administration work including

modifications and payment estimates.

Reviewed planned structure sites with landowners and reported design and construction

progress at the watershed board and public meetings. Coordinated with Iowa Department

of Natural Resources and other state and local agencies on the feasibility of incorporating

wetlands into the design of floodwater- retarding structures.

Provided engineering assistance to field office staff, districted cooperators and other land

users in a 19 county area.

Conducted site investigations to determine need and feasibility of engineering practices

to control soil erosion and conserve water.

Performed engineering surveys for use in planning and design work. Designed, drafted

and prepared cost estimates for engineering practices including water and sediment

control structures, terraces, detention structures, waterways, tile drainage, agricultural

manure management systems, and wetlands.
