Introduction: Young scientist and engineer, finishing a PhD in nanomaterials. Wide-ranging international experience, including a stint at a US high-tech startup.

My Work: High-tech materials for consumer electronics and sensor applications. These materials are often nanostructured, and my work has investigated and applied conducting polymer nanowires and carbon nanotubes.

Career Objective: A challenging, interdisciplinary science position, in either a commercial or academic setting.

Skills

Communication & Leadership: Extensive experience in technical writing and public speaking. Skills in managing teams, budgets and projects, as well as organizing workshops, seminars and meetings. Leadership experience working in team-oriented environments, including chairing a 13-person organization. Industry and research experience consulting with collaborators, vendors, and customers.

Science & Research: Expertise in scanned probe microscopy (SPM, SICM) and electrochemistry, and extensive research work with electron microscopy (SEM, TEM) and spectroscopy (FTIR, UV/Vis, Raman). Some research work with FIB, XPS, NMR, AFM, SECM and synchrotron techniques.

Engineering & Fabrication: Cleanroom microfabrication skills, including photolithography, metal deposition and mask design (L-Edit). Basic electronics including soldering, circuit boards, function generators, amplifiers, data acquisition and control using LabVIEW. Fabrication skills including design in CAD software, laser cutting, lathe milling and drilling.

Software & Programming: Proficient in Microsoft Office, Windows XP / Vista / 7, Mac OS X, Adobe Photoshop and LaTeX typesetting. Experience as a website and graphic design freelancer. Have done programming work in C, C++, PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, LabVIEW and Mathematica. Some work with CAD modeling and finite element analysis (ANSYS Maxwell and COMSOL Multiphysics).
