Recruiting,
I am interested in the Mechanical Design Engineer position advertised on the 3K Consulting
website. I am currently completing my final year of Mechanical Engineering at the University of
Waterloo and am seeking to start my career amongst a dynamic team that will allow me to use
and expand my skill set to its maximum potential. I have a particular interest in research and
design and feel this position would give me the chance to accomplish a few of my goals. These
goals include improving my best practices in CAD and apply my existing knowledge to new a
product line. In addition, I seek to learn from the knowledge base of the peers I would be
working with, while helping the team to succeed and exceed expectations.
During the past several years I have become prof icient with AutoCAD, worked with Solidworks
and taught Unigraphics., and as a result, successfully completed many drafting and design
courses and have adopted the best practices of my former employers/departments. For
example, when I worked for MTD, not only was I able to design structural and functional
components and assemblies, I also evaluated engines and led a testing expedition to Timmins.
This test expedition involved co-ordinating the logistics of the trip, hiring and supervising a team
of 12, and repairing and maintaining the machines.
I am, reliable, well organized and eager to take on new challenges. I can work efficiently as a
team member or independently and possess the ability to adapt effectively to remain goal
oriented whenever challenges arise.
I am an alumnus of the Mechanical Engineering Technology Robotics and Automation
program at Conestoga College. I a member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering
Technicians and Technologists (OACETT) and have achieved the designation Certified
Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.). I am currently a student member of Professional Engineers
Ontario and plan to pursue my Professional Engineering designation.
With my mechanical aptitude and computer skills along with my positive attitude, I am confident
that I would prove to be a valuable asset to your company. I would welcome the opportunity to
further discuss and elaborate on the skills I highlight in this package in order to demonstrate
why I feel I would contribute to the success of your team.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Derek Kursikowski
Encl.
