Instructional development and the use of media at Alfred State
University in 1973.Attended two week- long intensive workshops
sponsored by the College Center of the Finger Lakes in June, 1974
and 1975 and four weekend workshops during 1974-1975 on
Faculty Development and Student-Centered instruction. Video,
discussion, academic games and simulations were employed to
improve instructional skills.

International Corporation.
Faculty Development Consulting
Organized and conducted with the Alfred University Counseling
Center's staff psychologist a series of Transactional Analysis
Therapy sessions for students. 1974.
Consultant-Trainer for the Faculty Development Workshop
sponsored by the College Center for the Finger Lakes on June 6-
13, 1975. The workshop taught personal development, decision-
making and conflict management. Modes of instruction were
lectures, simulations and small group discussions.
Staff evaluator for the Teaching Effectiveness Laboratory of the
Alfred Educational Consulting Service during 1975-76. We did in-
classroom videotaping and evaluation.
Co-invented an academic game, "chemigrams."
Served on Old Dominion University Center for Instructional
Development Committee, 1978-1982. We awarded grant
money and conducted workshops.
Chair Committee G (Faculty Status and Remuneration) of Faculty
Senate, which disburses faculty development funds and advises
the Provost on issues of salary and working conditions 2001--02,

Acting chair of Performing Arts Department in 1974 at Alfred

Forensics Programs
Served as Assistant Debate Coach, Western Reserve
University, 1964-66. Team qualified for NDT. (National
Debate Tournament)
Initiated the forensics program at Alfred, coached three
debate teams and Individual Events. As the Director of
Forensics, 1970-75. In addition to debate coaching, I
scheduled the tournaments, arranged travel and
accommodations, directed publicity, secured funding and
budgeted the entire program.
Directed the Forensics Program at Old Dominion University.
I did all of the above and supervised two student assistants
and one graduate student who helped with the program,
1976 to 1996. Coached both debate and speech events.
Also qualified students for National Forensics Association
Nationals 1978 to 1996. We participated in 10-12
tournaments each year. Debate Team qualified for National
Debate Tournament (NDT) in 1995. Parliamentary debate,

argumentation and debate, parliamentary procedure, interviewing,

introduction to journalism and independent study. Developed an
interdisciplinary major and was Chief Advisor.
Created an Interdisciplinary course, media and the national
elections, which examines communication and media techniques of
national presidential elections, team-taught with political science.
Developed behavioral objectives and individualized testing for each
course above.
Introduced the use of videotape diagnosis in the public speaking
course at Alfred.
Served as Faculty Advisor to Fiat Lux, the weekly campus
newspaper; organized workshops and supervised the financial
aspects of the paper, 1973-75. Advisor to campus FM radio

Adapted a computer assisted instruction program for use in the
parliamentary procedure course.

Taught six hours of public speaking each semester and coached
the debate team. We qualified for Nationals in debate during my

Served as information coordinator for the Speech Communication
Association Women's Caucus; tabulated a questionnaire on
Women's Studies programs and the techniques used by SCA
members to obtain their current employment. I also organized two
programs for the 1975 SCA Convention.

Committee to evaluate the SCA Placement Service.
