Experience
Mr. Keene is president of Archaeological Research Incorporated and manages
a full time staff of six archaeologists and historians conducting Historic
Preservation Planning and Section 106 archaeological and historic investigation
projects throughout the States of Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Indiana, Missouri and
Michigan and Oklahoma. He is responsible for planning and executing Phase I,
II, and III archaeological projects as well as historic surveys, nominations to the
National Register of Historic Places, and HABS/HAER Documentation Projects.
His skills have been applied to both private and public projects of various sizes
including excavation of historic cemeteries and documentation of major
architectural landmarks. In addition, Mr. Keene is on the Board of Directors for
several local and national archaeological societies and historic preservation
groups.
Mr. Keene has been active in preservation planning projects and heritage
tourism projects. The most notable of these is preparing managements plans for
Route 66 in Illinois and Oklahoma and the Historic Chicago Portage Project in
suburban Chicago.
Prior to founding Archaeological Research Inc. David Keene was a part-time
instructor at Loyola University of Chicago where he taught courses in
Anthropology and Sociology.
