Swim instructor/Pool Operator

My responsibilities as a trained pool operator are to ensure that patrons have a safe environment in which to swim by maintaining the proper chemical balance in the pool for optimal swimming enjoyment. I do this by maintaining the pump room equipment which includes operating sand filters, DE filters, hair/lint strainer baskets, feeding Sodium Hypochlorite and muriatic acid, and general maintenance to ensure the pool environment is clean.

Also, I provide lifesaving rescue techniques and CPR/First Aid when emergencies take place, as well as, providing instruction to fellow associates on the proper procedure for handling incidents.

I supervise lifeguards by training them properly on the systems, assigning tasks, establishing constant communication, creating schedules, and completing payroll.

I work with health club and pool company employees to monitor and resolve any issues that are necessary to maintain the mechanical integrity of the pool. In addition, I order products for the spa on a regular basis, and do sufficient chemical testings to create and maintain a pristine system.

Finally, I interact with patrons to help them feel more comfortable in the water and teach them swimming skills that will increase their enjoyment of the facility and give them motivation to use these skills to exercise on a regular basis.
