WORK EXPERIENCE

1. 1997 - Present: Gordon Environmental Laboratory at University of Washington in Seattle

(1) Experience in Database Development and Administration

I have been working in Gordon Environmental Laboratory at University of Washington in

Seattle

since 1997. One of my duties is to develop and manage database using MS SQL server, which

can be summarized in the following aspects:

To build database based on ER relational model (entities and attributes for each entity).

To create, modify and delete tables using data definition statements (create, alter and

drop).

To manipulate data using SQL manipulation statements (insert, delete and update)

To enforce constraints at table and attribute levels (primary key, foreign key, check,

not-null).

To set triggers using SQL trigger statements (before, after and instead of).

Database access through JDBC and programming using Java (insert, retrieve, update).

I have participated a certificated program for Oracle8i/9i Internet DBA and Java DBA

certifications (OCP). For this program I use Oracle8i Enterprise Edition R3 (8.1.7),

Oracle81

Enterprise Manager v2.2 for Window 2000, HP-UX and Sun Solaris Unix, Oracle9i Application

Server and Jdeveloper3.2. The materials covered in this program include the following

aspects:

Introduction to Oracle 8i/9i: SQL and PL/SQL

Fundamentals of the Unix System-HP-UX v11.0 & Solaris8.0

Enterprise DBA Part 1: Architecture, Administration, Backup and Recovery

Enterprise DBA Part 2: Performance and Tuning

Enterprise DBA Part 3: Network Administration

Oracle9i Java Database Administration and Application Server

(2) Experience in Programming Using C, C++ and Java

My Java programming experience is mainly associated with the database programming as

mentioned above.

I have used C/C++ language to model the movement of groundwater contaminants (CT and

TCE). This model is based on the patterns in which the major physical, chemical and

biological

factors influence the movement of CT and TCE in groundwater. Based on the results from

field

and laboratory experiments and data modeling, each factor was given an affecting

coefficient.

The movement of CT and TCE in groundwater was calculated based on these coefficients.

2. 1988

-1994: Hangzhou Environmental Laboratory of Agriculture Ministry of China

My computer experience during my working in China included software development and

database management.

I used Basic Language to design and implement agricultural and

Statistical software. I also used a Chinese database system to store and manipulate data

from my

laboratory. Since Basic language and the Chinese database mentioned above were no longer

used today, I will not describe my experience with these language and database in

details.

PROGRAMMING EXPERIENCE

(1) Selected C/C++ programming projects

Large precision natural number ADT.

Dorp Ball game.

Polynomial addition and multiplication

Generating CD recommendations for Online Shoppers.

(2) Database programming using Java

Database creation and data presentation for web log files.

Establishment of a database for Pumpkin Bookstore.

(3) Network programming using C

Data link layer protocols.

Routing protocols in the network layer
