cardiovascular measures in patients clinically diagnosed with chronic fatigue

Muscle blood flow and spinal cord injury (Gary Dudley, P.I.; Kevin McCully Co-P.I.)
Aim: Determine the time course of changes in muscle fatigue, arterial size/health,
and muscle function in response to resistance training of the knee extensors in
individuals with a spinal cord injury
Role: Aided in experimental design, supervised resistance training, assisted in data
collection and analysis.
Skeletal muscle plasticity, fitness, and health (Gary Dudley, P.I.)
Aim: Determine the effects of 6 months of resistance training on knee extensor
muscle size, glucose tolerance, and maximal oxygen uptake in individuals with a
spinal cord injury. Secondary aims were to determine the optimal stimulation
parameters for maximizing force production and work while limiting fatigue and
muscle injury.
Role: Aided in experimental design, supervised resistance training, assisted in data
collection and analysis. Primarily responsible for experimental designs, data
collection, and data analysis for studies aimed at determining optimal stimulation
parameters to limit fatigue and injury.

Unilateral lower limb suspension and its effects on voluntary strength, skeletal muscle size

Aim: Determine the time course of changes in lower limb size, strength, and
composition in response to fours weeks of unloading via unilateral lower-limb
suspension
Role: Study coordinator. Responsible for experimental design, subject recruitment,
and supervised all data collection and analysis.

Aim: Determine the effects of a single and multiple does of the dietary spice ginger
on pain, inflammation, and muscle function following eccentric exercise as well as
leg pain, exertion, and oxygen consumption during and following submaximal
cycling exercise
