Operations Manager Smiths Falls, Ontario
Implemented Accountability for all associates, both indirect and direct, by providing a daily
forum for all measurables to be posted by the persons responsible, with reasons for, and solutions
to variances. This system was described as World Class by KPMG during the company s most
recent ISO-TS16949 audit.
Implemented OEE and $VA/man hour as production metrics by integrating the price list, BOM
and goal rates into a reporting system to be used by production environment supervisors.
Created an internally public online electronic dashboard with all plant metrics to track and control
performance on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
Championed the operations team to produce first product sold directly to Daimler Chrysler,
leading to 2 more programs, altogether worth a total of $2.8 million annually.
Reduced scrap from 11% to less than 7% through a disciplined and systematic approach to root
cause problem solving.
Expanded a CNC machining operation from 560 hours per week to more than 1300 hours per
week.
Managed multiple decreases in labour totaling over 80 associates while avoiding mass termination

issues on one program in particular.

Reduced direct to indirect ratios from 2:1 to 3:1 through team involvement and lean
manufacturing techniques.
Reduced hourly wages of production associates by 5% through an innovative scheduling and
grandfathering initiative.

OUTSIDE INTERESTS
My wife and I enjoy country living and are interested in the restoration of heritage buildings. We
currently live in an 1826 farmhouse just north of Brockville, Ontario. Golf, cycling, cross country
skiing and camping are important interests. We hope to start RVing in the future. I am a woodsman
and enjoy harvesting about 30 face cord of hardwood per year. We have three Airedale Terriers that
we love to spoil, dogs will likely always be part of our family.
