Hand selected to train in Six Sigma. During training, I led two Six Sigma service manufacturing efficiency teams. Resulted in reduced transportation costs ($5.1M), design and rollout of the first monthly executive dashboard summary. Researched complex tax issues, law changes and court decisions to introduce methods to reduce taxes imposed, which resulted in significant tax liability reductions (~ $752K). Served as an agent for MeadWestvaco to all levels of tax authorities, outside tax consultants and auditors. Key Results:

Successfully negotiated a reduction in a California sales and use tax audit from $386,384 to $24,000. Accomplished this by thoroughly researching tax law, conferring with our inside tax attorneys and providing supporting documentation for each proposed finding.

Requested additional responsibility to become a member of the SAP R3 "Train the Trainer" team. This required 40% increased working hours to travel, learn new material, plan and conduct training classes. Resulted in becoming a SAP subject matter expert for the tax department.

Took initiative to partner with the property department to learn their intricate tax reporting system. This effectively reduced the tax department wait time for critical reports by 84%. Accomplished by shadowing property department Manager one day a week for 6 months.
