In-depth knowledge of the products that we sold, as well as the technical aspects of their use, is what made me an effective customer service manager. I was the first and primary point of contact for our store, and it was my responsibility to make recommendations based on the individual needs of our customers. I was essentially a "walking call center", meaning that I spent the majority of the time on the phone, taking calls from current and potential customers, and answering questions regarding product pricing and availability, store hours and location, or any other questions they may have.
Retention was also a critical aspect of my position. This is a type of business that when something goes wrong, it can be anything from inconvenience to catastrophe. Word of mouth can make or break the reputation of a small business. Therefore when faced with a customer who was dissatisfied, it was essential to diagnose and fix the issue, in a timely manner, using whatever resources I have available.

Major duties and responsibilities of this position included: Writing service orders for Tire and Oil change services, keeping T.L.E. department stocked, clean and organized, processing returns for the Automotive department, answering customer questions both in-store and over the phone.
I was also responsible for helping customers choose products (such as tires and car audio equipment) and services that best suit their needs. It was very important to understand the type of vehicle customers are driving, and what they use it for, in order to help them make a good decision.
