* I started my career with AT&T in September 1988. I started as a Directory Assistance Operator, which requires answering calls within fifteen seconds, and provided phone numbers and/or addresses for customers. I also studied all the correspondence courses available. Classes included Telephony, Basic Electricity, Mathematics and Digital Electronics. I needed to achieve more so I sought the Services Technician title in February 1993. This title consists of installing, maintenance and repair of phone lines, DSL service and Uverse service. It requires working aloft over eighteen feet, working with numerous cable pairs and delicate electronic equipment, working in attics and under houses for wiring.
* I substituted for my supervisor whenever he was off or on vacation. I was in charge of 15 plus technicians.
* I was put into the control position for two months while the office trained someone for that position. Control runs the "turfs", or five crews of technicians, in the South Dade County region in Miami FL, dispatching technicians where needed to meet load requirements.
* In April 2005 I transferred to Cocoa FL in the same Services Technician title. In this crew I had added responsibilities of installing DSL service to the customers' computer and then the new Uverse service when it became available.
* Dealing with customers has always been a part of my day. I really enjoy helping people and meeting new people. I take keeping my customers happy and doing whatever it takes to do the job correctly the first time very seriously. I have two "Outstanding Achievement" awards for customer service and many customer survey compliments in my personnel file.
