ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Strategic Developed an innovative strategic plan to integrate the Peshmerga Forces of Kurdistan Planning into the Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) to reduce the potential for conflict in the disputed

territories. In March 2010, for the first time in Iraqi history, a Kurdish Peshmerga Brigade

was incorporated into the ISF. This action eliminated the requirement to deploy 3000 U.S. soldiers to the area and a cost avoidance of $1.2B to the U.S. government.

Financial Managed an $800M budget focused on training, equipment maintenance, field operations

Management support, military construction, new equipment purchases, and contract salaries.

Instituted an aggressive program review to reduce budget requirements; saved

approximately $26M; and improved organizational effectiveness.

Training Commanded the Iraq Training and Advisory Mission responsible for the education and Management training of the Iraqi Army of 260K soldiers; purchased and issued over $1B in U.S.

funded equipment; and advised senior Iraqi government leaders.

Policy Served as the military representative on the U.S. interagency team chosen to negotiate

Development with the North Koreans over their nuclear program. After six months of negotiations in

various capitols around the world, the 1994 Strategic Framework Agreement was signed between the United States and North Korea.

Humanitarian Extensive experience with humanitarian operations around the world; from delivering aid in

Operations the mountains of Kosovo to hurricane recovery operations in Latin America. These contingency operations resulted in many lives saved and economic potential restored.

Inspirational Wounded by a grenade resulting in the amputation of the left leg below-the-knee Leadership and dozens of surgeries. Remained in the military; fought to continue serving in the

Previous Experience

Led one of the earliest peacekeeping missions to the Sinai to monitor the peace between Egypt and Israel. Served as a Liaison Officer to the Egyptian Ministry of Defense in Cairo, Egypt. Led an 800-man Task Force to support the United Nations peace enforcement mission to Kosovo. Commanded a 4000-man Brigade Combat Team in combat operations in Iraq in the most ethnically volatile area in the country.
