Duties included supervision of over 60 staff of all levels including Sworn and Civilian members, meetings with internal business owners as well as 40+ criminal justice partners including the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, HSEMA, US Secret Service, US Park Police in coordination of data sharing initiatives and served as Internet Security Officer for the FBI`s CJIS Division dealing with NCIC. Constant oral and written communications with all levels of management both within agency and external partners. Day to day supervising manager for network, datacenter and telecom operations with over 200 Servers, 1500 windows desktops, and 1000 Mobile Data Computers (Panasonic Toughbooks in vehicles) . Supported 40 locations with over 4500 sworn and civilian employees using citywide Active Directory, Exchange, Office suite, and leveraging citywide BES/Good/Activesync technologies. Managed Tier 1-2 Helpdesk as well as Tier 3+ support personnel. Stepped in when necessary to support upgrading network and server infrastructure. Personally implemented FOG imaging system for quicker turnaround of PC/Laptop issues including those computers installed in the police cruisers. Personally implemented upgrade to the firewall system connecting MPD to the FBI CJIS systems.
Major accomplishments:
* Implemented tremendously successful License Plate Reader (LPR) program, a system which helps identify stolen vehicles and wanted persons tied to the FBI`s NCIC hotlist. Personally rebuilt the file transfer mechanism within the LPR system to improve real time transfer of data.
* Personally implemented SSL security solutions for internal and external facing web applications. This was built upon CentOS Linux, using Apache Webserver reverse proxy.
* Managed total PC fleet of approximately 3000 desktop and laptop configurations some with remote access capability. Personally developed Gold images for the PC`s and Laptop configurations.
* Successfully executed the beginning of a technology refresh of departments aging desktop systems using personally implemented FOG imaging system which dramatically reduced downtime from weeks to hours.
* Oversaw implementation and maintenance of over 1000 Mobile Data Computers in Patrol and other vehicles, communications over Verizon 3G network. This included personally building custom images for several models of Panasonic Toughbooks.
* Personally lead the implementation of Single Sign On capabilities for MPD built web applications leveraging citywide Active Directory.
* Led implementation of Solarwinds Network monitoring system for proactive issue management.
* Led successful migration of MPD`s legacy mainframe WALES system to Client/Server & Web based WALES2 Apache/Oracle system. This system is used by over 7000 personnel in DC and the conduit for information about DC Warrants, stolen vehicles, missing persons, and DMV Permits and registrations to the rest of the United States.
