Loudon Utilities Loudon, Tennessee
Customer Service Representative
* I was responsible for selling new plans and products for the utilities.
* I had the responsibility for setting up new customer service and terminating accounts.
* I listened to customer complaints, corrected any problems and made sure the customer was happy and satisfied and that all of their questions were answered.
* I also assisted the city clerk by taking payments for city taxes and selling business licenses.
* I assisted the Police Department and Court Clerk by taking payments and filling out paperwork for sex offenders, taking payments for any violations, and assisting people with suspended licensees.
* I assisted the Police Department and Court Clerk by taking payments and filling out paperwork for sex offenders, taking payments for any violations, and assisting people with suspended licensees.
* I took the initiative to learn duties in other departments such as the Police Department, Accounting Department, Parks and Recreation, and the City Court Clerk so that I could make myself available to be of any assistance.
July 2002- February 2006
Loudon County Family Resource Center Loudon, Tennessee
* I was the Lead Teacher and I supervised 5 teacher's assistants at two different schools.
* I was responsible for interviewing and hiring the teacher assistants.
* I was responsible for counseling students in 9 county schools. I counseled students at their schools as well as at home with their families. These were referred to us by their teachers and then we gained approval from their families.
* I referred families to outside agencies to help assist them and myself while they were in our program. Sometimes we would have a referral for a child that we did not have the resources to help and I would find outside resources for these families that could help them.
* I worked closely with groups of teachers at the schools that referred the student. We worked with the child and their parents along with any other professionals that were involved in the child's care. I also worked closely with local law enforcement gaining information regarding the laws and finding out what I could and could not do. If I had a child I feared was in danger but had no proof then I would get valuable information from the police department on what to look for and also what the parents or guardians were allowed and not allowed to do if we did discover proof.
* I was required to keep files on all children that we worked with and I was only allowed to share those with organizations or individuals that were privileged to the information. I used those outside resources on a regular basis to ensure I was making the best decisions for the child I was working with as well as their family. I also used those organizations to refer those children and their families or both if I discovered that I had done all I could do for them.
* I was 1 of 80 people chosen out of 700 across the state to attend a state wide school where I was certified to teach "Life Skill Classes."
* I taught "Life Skill Classes" to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders in 3 of our county schools until the grant money was cut from the budget which was two years.
* I implemented an after school program and was awarded a grant from the state of Tennessee. We held the after school program at 3 of our County schools.
* I was in charge of one of our after school Program's. I was responsible for lesson plans, exercise programs, providing nutritional snacks, assisting students with homework, providing the student's with any one on one time that they needed.
* I worked closely with all of the student's teachers to make sure I was providing the best possible support for the child's school work as well as any behavior issues.
* While I was over the after school program I also did counseling during the day at the same school for students who were recommended by their teachers.
* I also helped implement and participate in a 2 week summer camp for students at two of our county schools. I taught the students how to work together as a team and we did projects that help them demonstrate team work. I also implemented a program that taught them how important it is to stay active and eat healthy, I taught arts and crafts class, and assisted a science teacher in her classroom during her class time.
* For five years I distributed "Christmas Angels" to local businesses. Every year there were more and more children who no one had bought for so I went to local businesses and people in the community and raised enough money so that I could purchase gifts for the rest of the children. I helped organize the presents for over 200 Christmas Angel's and made sure the right child got the right presents and that we delivered them to the right location.
* I did counseling at our Alternative school and taught the Life Skill classes to help them learn to make the right decisions and help them with their anger management. Once they went back to their regular school I counseled and visited them until felt both the student and I felt they were ready to make the right decisions on their own. I also implemented a program where the students would perform community service projects. We had a car wash and raised money for our local animal shelter. We also held a small lunch banquet for the local soldiers of the 278th before they were deployed to Iraq. The kids wrote poems, gave speeches, and made a quilt which Sgt. Lindsey said the soldiers took with them to Iraq and kept hanging where they could always see it as a reminder of what these students had done.
* One other program I implemented was held at one of our schools for students who had a parent that was a soldier who was deployed. It was a support group, where the students could share their feelings. We also made things, bought items, and sent boxes overseas to their parents.

Honors and Activities
During the time I taught Life Skill classes with grant money I was awarded from the state of Tennessee the state chose 1 school to be honored by having Miss. Tennessee visit that school. Because of the success and improvement of my students we were selected in 2004 and Miss. Tennessee visited 2 of our local schools and ate lunch with several students. It was great to see that the hard work and extra time I gave to my student's and that they gave to me was recognized. Considering it was the first year that our school system had participated made it even more rewarding.
I am a charter member of City of Loudon Police Department's Association. Because of research done on my own time and because of my efforts to raise money for a memorial wall, they awarded me by making me a charter member of the association. They also ask me to be a speaker at the unveiling of the monument. It was an honor to be recognized. I feel community involvement is very important.
As a member of Kappa Delta sorority I am involved in community philanthropies for local Girl Scout troops and Children's Hospital as well as others.
I also volunteer every year to buy presents for the "Christmas Angels" at our local schools. All of the "Christmas Angels" that are not chosen by someone I take and start doing what I need to do to make sure that each child will have good memories of this Christmas, and not bad ones. I need a considerable amount of money to purchase an entire outfit, needed items, and wanted item for each child. To raise the money I visit local businesses, churches, and the people in the community that I know. I purchase the gifts and wrap them myself and make sure that they are delivered on time. It can very exhausting and overwhelming at times because I do all of this by myself but it is also a very rewarding experience that I love.
