Worked with R&D Equity and Bloomberg Industries team on developing alerts and favorites

architecture for Bloomberg s flagship BI function that publishes Bloomberg analyst s research of

different industries on the Bloomberg Terminal.

Programmed a service in C++ and created a database for storing user preferences and metadata using

Bloomberg s proprietary tools and APIs. Also developed a user interface in Javascript.

Major Projects

Distributed Web Search Engine (Mar 12 Apr 12)

Working in a team, was responsible for indexing and ranking components. Came up with a ranking

algorithm that comprised of ten different parameters for displaying relevant search results.

Deployed Hadoop on Amazon EC2 cluster for running Map-Reduce to compute inverted index of

unigrams, bigrams and tri-grams and Page-Rank of the crawled set of web pages.

Won Google Nexus sponsored by Google Inc. for the best search results competing among 25 teams.

Text Based Distributed Chat

Designed a totally ordered multicast protocol in a team. Programmed function for handling unexpected

node failure and conducting leader election if central sequencer failed using bully algorithm.

YouTube Video Caching (Mar 12)

Built a caching mechanism whereby YouTube search results are cached in Berkeley DB at each node in a

Distributed Hash Table (FreePastry) and exposed as a web service.

JChess Two-Player Chess Engine (Jan 11 May 11)

Represented chessboard using bit-boards and used bit manipulation operations to compute movement

of each piece. End result was fast and responsive chess engine.

Email Spam Filtering using Artificial Neural Networks (Sept 10 Oct 10)

Developed a prototype application to demonstrate the efficiency of feed forward neural networks in

filtering emails based on the spam keywords. Achieved a 90% success rate for a 100-word training set.

Image Copyright Protection using Digital Watermarking (Jan 10 - Jul 10)

Proposed a digital image-watermarking algorithm in the frequency and wavelet domain (Tool Used:

Matlab) as part of Acquisition, Representation, Processing and Display of Digital Heritage Project at
