Accomplishments

Planned, Developed, and presented Western Michigan University with its first Carbon fiber layout and mobile workstation.

Over the course of the final semester in school, many after school hours were spent purchasing the necessary materials and building the school its own station to teach and work with carbon fiber. Future students benefit, being able to work in larger groups as well as gain an enriched understanding of the process in building and repairing carbon fiber.

This project includes a large, mobile workstation equipped with vacuum pumps mounted and ducted to each table corner fastened with quick-disconnect fittings and a Teflon table finish, allowing multiple students to build up their own carbon fiber samples, or large enough to build and repair the parts.

Idea was derived from having seen mechanics use an identical workstation in the maintenance hangars of Duncan Aviation, in Battle Creek, Michigan.
