PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
INDEPENDENT RETAIL CONSULTANT - ATLANTA, GA 2012 - PRESENT
ASSET PROTECTION CONSULTANT- HD SUPPLY
Contracted by HDS Asset Protection and Legal Leadership to design, build and implement a centralized Theft and Fraud Exception Reporting Suite. Key responsibilities include; measuring existing reporting dynamics across 11 separate operating businesses, developing common tools based on customer inputs and leading a multi-level team charged with establishing an IT dependent, long term solution.
o Secured data feeds from 3rd party databases; PNC Bank, US Bank and Petro Canada to build a centralized and consistent exception reporting protocol. This allowed the company to view and control its Travel and Fuel spend by identifying significant employee abuse and fraud that was not captured using customer offered exception reporting.
o Working with each line of business to define and build Point of Sale exception reporting to identify key risk in shrink and credit fraud.
o Developed a 3 year strategic plan to centralize all Asset Protection Reporting and Data.
THE HOME DEPOT - ATLANTA, GA 1999 - 2011
DIRECTOR, DIRECT TO CONSUMER FULFILLMENT (2009 - 2011)
Led the Direct Fulfilment organization that supported Home Depot`s multi-channel strategy which included homedepot.com, Home Decorators Collection and wholesaler Your Other Warehouse businesses. Responsible for Distribution, Logistics, Inventory Planning and Purchasing organizations that supported over $1.4B in direct to consumer sales. Span of control included 5 distribution centers, 400 suppliers, 270 drop ship vendors and over 550 associates.
o Aligned fulfillment strategy with multiple business channels to leverage costs across existing assets and inventory. Improved visibility to Supply Chain costs and risks, overall improving P&L impacts against each platform, leveraging below plan performance across all 3 channels two years in a row.
o Experienced unprecedented growth in 2009-2011 as businesses went through developmental phases. During this period, DC and Transportation costs were dramatically reduced, inventory productivity increased and supplier accountability improved. Established better connectivity with Merchandising and Marketing to dramatically improve Inventory, Distribution and Transportation forecast decisions.
DIRECTOR, MERCHANDISING OPERATIONS (2006 - 2009)
Oversaw the planning, organization and implementation of Merchandising Resets across 1,800 stores. Functionally responsible for Implementation Planners, 3rd Party Labor, Purchasing and Distribution teams. Resets ranged from monthly events to large consolidated quarterly efforts. These teams supported on average $300M in capital spend and required significant coordination of resources and scheduling with the stores organization.
o Improved all aspects of the reset process to include governance of a 26 week timeline, developed merchant roles and responsibilities, established labor team policy, improved store communication, re-organized the supply chain and built standardization across the implementation organization.
o Increased program capabilities to move assets faster to market on a monthly rotation while shifting more complex sets to a quarterly rotation. This took tremendous pressure off store operations and streamlined the reset flow to better suit business needs and leadership expectations.
o Took significance cost out of the existing model through several business process improvements including, renegotiation of labor contracts, reduction in signing dependencies, consolidation of DC loads and utilization of shared inventories.
DIRECTOR, CORPORATE LOSS PREVENTION (2005 - 2006)
Responsible for the design and build of core retail Loss Prevention strategies across the entire Home Depot organization, supporting both field and corporate organizations. Led a team of industry experts in System Solutions, Shrink Reduction Strategy, Theft/Fraud disciplines, Exception Report Development and Vendor Support. Represented Loss Prevention in all Executive Leadership functions and planning discussions.
o Achieved the lowest shrink in the company`s history in 2005 and 2006.
o Resource expert in CCTV, Exception Reporting, Physical Security, Risk Management, Theft Elimination and Store Prototypes.
o Hand selected by the EVP of Legal to conduct a significant investigation into fraudulent operational practices that were being challenged by the Media and SEC.
WESTERN DIVISION DIRECTOR, LOSS PREVENTION (2003 - 2005)
Responsible for all Strategic and Tactical Loss Prevention direction across a $21B, 420 Store Home Depot Division. Led 5 Regional Managers, 29 District Managers and over 400 LP associates. Core responsibilities included; Operational Excellence, Theft and Fraud elimination, Risk Analysis and Shrink Reduction. Dual reported into the VP of Loss Prevention and Division President. Secured strong partnerships with Legal, HR, Operations, Finance, Merchandising and Corporate leadership.
o Recorded the lowest shrink in the Division`s history, improved expense controls and built common practices across all 5 Regions.
o Worked closely with Regional Vice Presidents in establishing operating standards in high risk stores.
NORTHWEST DIVISION DIRECTOR, LOSS PREVENTION (2001 - 2003)
Responsible for all Strategic and Tactical Loss Prevention direction across a $5B, 104 Store Home Depot Division. Led 2 Regional Managers, 11 District Managers and 68 LP associates. Core responsibilities included; Operational Excellence, Theft and Fraud elimination, Risk Analysis and Shrink Reduction. Dual reported into the VP of Loss Prevention and Division President. Secured strong partnerships with Legal, HR, Operations, Finance, Merchandising and Corporate leadership. Played a significant role in expansion of new stores in the NW Regions.
o Recorded the lowest Shrink in the US 3 years in a row, including 2 years below 1%.
o Built core roles and responsibilities for LP associates and operational routines that were adopted and rolled out across both US and Canadian Stores.
o Secured capital to standardize CCTV and Alarm systems which had been ignored for years.
REGIONAL LOSS PREVENTION MANAGER (1999 - 2001)
Led 2 separate Regions in Southern California. Reported directly to the Director of Loss Prevention and Regional Vice President. Implemented Core Loss Prevention strategy across Districts and Stores.
