Duties with the camp included supervision, teaching environmental
issues and organizing and carrying out of backcountry adventures.
Adventures included hiking, canoeing and horseback riding, etc.
June-Sept 1996 Interpretative Tour Guide. Pasadena Nature Trails.
June-Sept 1995 One of two employees on the trail responsible for the leading and
identification of flora and fauna in the region. Other duties
included daily maintenance and repair of the trail system.
ORGANIZATIONS
1983 - 2004 Pasadena Scouting Movement. Pasadena, NL.
Completed all levels as a member of the Scouting Movement and
continue to assist the program as a leader and resource person.
1991 - 2001 Duke of Edinburgh Program. Western Newfoundland Region.
I have acted as resource person for the program, and spoke to
community groups about how they can get involved.
1995 - 1998 Visiting Resource Person. Pasadena Academy High School.
I developed a series of lecture notes, taught and organized
camping trips for the students to develop their outdoor skills,
as required in their Physical Education 3100 Program.
1991 - 1994 Western Newfoundland Junior Achievement (JA) Program.
I served as Pasadena JA Company President for the 1993-1994
academic year, the VP Finance for the 1992-93 year, and Sales
Manager in 1991-92.
ACHIEVEMENTS
October 2005 Completed St.John Ambulance Safety Oriented First Aid CPR course.
June 2001 and Assisted as a Support Staff Member for Team Nokia Adventure
August 2004 (Finland) during the Raid the North Extreme Adventure Race,
held in Western Newfoundland, Canada.
May 2000 Attended the CRCA Flatwater Canoeing Instructors Course.
December 1998 Completed the Biathlon Canada Level 1 Officials Course and
volunteered for the Canada Winter Games Biathlon competitions.
August 1998 Completed Levels 1 and 2 Kanawa-Canada Canoeing Courses.
July 1998 Completed the Triathlon Canada Level 1 Officials Course, and
volunteered for the World Triathlon events held in Corner Brook,
in 1998 through to 2001.
March 1997 Received the Wild Things Scholarship from the Natural History
Society for my involvement in the fields of environmental concern.
May 1996 Completed a 40 hour Geographical Information System (GIS) map
making course from Westviking College.
April 1996 Completed Restricted Marine Radio Course.
January 1996 Completed St.John Ambulance Wilderness First Aid Course.
April 1995 Completed Royal Life Saving 1 Course.
