Selected Accomplishments

Researched, wrote, and implemented a course in foreign (African and Asian) literature in a high school that previously had no such course. Course was adopted by the school district and staff and broadened the perceptions of students and staff in the area of cultural awareness and historical perspectives.

Designed, and implemented positive referral program for high school students. Students received rewards for improvements and accomplishments in the areas of behavior and academics. This also resulted in an improved perception of the Student Activities and Administrator`s Office.

Research and implemented a non-smoking policy for a school district. Met with local Justices in order to determine feasibility of such a policy. Wrote policy based on State`s statutes that pertain to smoking in public places. Policy was passed by the District`s school board and resulted in a 20 percent reduction in the suspension rate.

Research, wrote, and presented an Advanced Placement Grant for the State of Pennsylvania which resulted in a 10% increase in funding to the State for test fee payment for low income student. Used Excel Program to create graphs based on demographic data from other divisions

within the Department.

Consulted with school districts as part of the original task force for School Improvement Program for the State of Pennsylvania. Resulted in improvements in Title I Programs in the areas of research based reading programs and funding for additional instructional staff.

Founded a Forensics (Speech and Debate) Program at Bangor School District. Met with administrators to explain purpose and benefits of program to high school students. Program was approved by the School Board. In its first year, it had one student who placed second in the State and participated in a national speech competition.

Taught a preparation program for the Pennsylvania State Schools Assessment Test to high

school sophomores at Bangor School District with a concentration on reading comprehension and process writing. Revised high school English curriculum as a member of the Language Arts Committee. PSSA scores increased by approximately 10 percent over the following three years.

Led a leadership initiative in cooperation with Clarion University as part a freshman orientation

program for Reading High School. Coordinated efforts of the University with high school administrators, juniors and seniors at the high school, as well as the general public. Resulted in a five day program in which as many as 1800 students received consultation concerning leadership and decision making skills as well as a tour of the high school.

Researched, developed, presented, and led a lesson study program at Reading High School in which staff worked cooperatively to analyze, implement, and revise lesson within their discipline. analyzed results of this program via qualitative data from staff. Resulted in improved collegiality

amongst staff members and a 15% improvement in 4-Sight Test Scores.

Selected by Resource Associates Corporation to be trained in the areas of people and process development. Work with business executives, educators, students, and business owners in order to help them to get improved results. Resulted in areas of improvement in sales, personal and professional effectiveness and efficacy, as well as academic and behavioral improvements with students.
