on increasing students content knowledge of geometry and measurement concepts

prospective middle and high school teachers with knowledge of the major goals, current
developments, and instructional procedures that are critical in the teaching of middle

focuses on the content, methods, and materials for teaching elementary school
mathematics, with particular emphasis on problem solving, whole number concepts,

Course Development/Evaluation June 2009-May 2010
Participated in a teaching collaboration with a mathematician (Dr. Catherine Beneteau) and
mathematics educators (Dr. Denisse R. Thompson and Dr. Gladis Kersaint). Two
semester-long courses (Geometry and Teaching High School Mathematics) were team-
taught by Dr. Thompson and Dr. Beneteau. My responsibilities included assisting in
course development, observing and reflecting on weekly class sessions, facilitating a
focus group with students, and collecting course evaluation data. The collaboration was
part of the KnoTSS (Knowledge for Teaching Secondary School) project funded by
NSF grant #0821996, Principal Investigator Rebecca McGraw, University of Arizona.

Served as a lead researcher on the KnoTSS (Knowledge for Teaching Secondary School)
project funded by NSF grant #0821996 (Principal Investigator Rebecca McGraw,
University of Arizona), a research project focused on the nature and process of
collaboration between mathematicians and mathematics teacher educators in the context
of team-teaching. My research responsibilities included taking field notes during class
and planning sessions, video-recording class sessions, audiotaping planning sessions, and
interviewing the individuals involved in collaborative team-teaching.

Applied and was selected for participation in the Enhancing Diversity in Graduate
Education (EDGE) program, an NSF-funded preparation program for women entering
graduate programs in mathematics. The program consisted of two core courses in Real
Analysis and Algebra/Linear Algebra, minicourses in specialized areas of mathematics
research, guest lectures, problem sessions, and the formation of professional networks
