A $350 million dollar company with electric furnace (500,000 tpy), SBQ rolling mill, seamless tube mill and pipe finishing operations. Three plants - approximately 700 people.
Started as Plant Manager (1994-1996); promoted to Tubular Operations Manager (1996-1998); General Manager of Tubular Operations (1998),; Vice President of Tubular Operations (1998-1999) and then Vice President of Operations and Company Officer (1999-2002)
Start up shuttered facility with total control of hiring, systems implementation, organization/ culture. Within 4 years became the low cost OCTG finishing facility in the US.
Improved throughput efficiency of seamless tube mill by 40% without any capital expenditures
Successfully developed and introduced operational philosophies including TOC that dramatically improved throughput, reduced WIP inventories by 90%, improved off-quality costs (RFT) and strengthened organizational structure

Plant Manager 1990 to 1994
The Texas facility had 2 ERW tube mills, finishing facilities for OCTG tubing & casing, and a hot dip galvanizing line. Produced 1.900" - 10.75" OCTG, line pipe, standard pipe, structural pipe and electrical conduit. Started as Engineering Manager (1990); promoted to finishing manager in 2 months (1990-1991); Manufacturing manager in 6 months (1991-1992); and Plant Manager in 6 months (1992-1994). Ran conduit plant in Houston for 9 months after Liberty shutdown.
Increased finishing output by 100% with 75% of increase realized in first 2 months and the balance realized with a 35% decrease in hourly head count
Increased ERW tube mill yields by 10% in 3 months, decreased their downtime by 15% and increased hourly output by 30%
Defeated a union organizing attempt
Upon plant closing, sold all equipment in facility and moved conduit equipment to Houston for installation and startup under my guidance

Was responsible for spot steel purchases
Was promoted to include operations under my control. Also became responsible for the negotiation and purchase of all steel for the facility
