Job duties included: Responsible for all OSHA safety, industrial hygiene and radiological job coverage for all aspects of the remediation and environmental cleanup of tritium-contaminated facilities. Provided technical guidance for the solidification of tritiated leachate and subsequent placement into bunker cells for final storage. Project specific duties included performing industrial hygiene, confined space entry, and radiological trending surveys for bunker entry to repair cracked walls, which caused tritium leachate leaks to surrounding environment. Tasked with daily operational checks and calibration of both industrial hygiene and radiological instrumentation. OSHA 40-hour Confined space entry supervisor/rescue qualified.

Lead Radiological Control Technician (GTS)

Job duties included: Characterization surveys and radiological job coverage of buildings/areas (Plant 1, Plant 4, and Uranium Waste Pits) that were targeted for immediate safe shutdown, decommissioning, and final dismantling. Responsible for radiological/safety controls of hazardous waste characterization, and various environmental restoration type jobs including core samples of water and soil in Thorium 230/232 areas. As a team member in the New Technologies Group was actively involved in the planning of projects with the high voltage scabbling of concrete in U 238 areas, in an effort to find a more efficient process for decon of concrete. Other projects involved high pressure washing of contaminated steel/walls/floors. During my tenure with safe shutdown, responsible for job coverage of U 235/U 238 > 20% enriched uranium, as well as unknown quantities of radioactive mixed waste needing characterization which was produced in former nuclear experiments. During the Repackaging Project packaged and prepared this material for shipment to final disposition.
