*Profile

With a unique and varied experience in Commercial Aviation, Telecommunications and the Not-for-Profit sector, I continue to enjoy the learning process and challenge myself in an ongoing basis. I keenly enjoy meeting and working with new people from many walks of life.

Defining characteristics of my work are my dedication to high levels of quality, traceability and documentation that years in the Aviation and Telecom industries required. 10 years at American Trans Air deepened and shaped my desire for excellence in quality and customer service. Aircraft and the environments by which they are utilized are highly dynamic and demanding, requiring flexibility, dedication and a willingness to constantly evaluate and change tactics to improve quality, time-lines to restoration, and customer relationships.

In a leadership position of a telecom business, I was given the privilege to set the vision for the company where I directed and encouraged our employees to develop each system the company now operates from. Using company developed software, virtually every aspect of the operation up to and including automated updates to customers and employees regarding work schedules, material tracking, inventory control, shipping/receiving, engineering and installation planning are tracked and utilized by employees at every level of the company. This provided the platform that took a company initially struggling with its quality and execution to quickly be recognized as the #1 Telco Installation firm in the Midwest by Ameritech, now AT&T which continued for the next 11 years as evidenced by awards given and full page recognition in the Wall Street Journal for outstanding service provided.

Having served as the chairman of the board for two Non-For-Profits, I was given the great gift of working with people whose only stake in the enterprise was to bring positive experiences to those in extreme circumstances. Such environments require one to approach the process of oversight, encouragement, accountability and growth from a unique perspective. Suffering the death of the founder and good friend at one of the NFPs less than a year from becoming board chair, the process of moving beyond the loss was especially difficult yet rewarding to see board members, supporters and major donors step up and honor the loss through a major fund raising campaign and search for a new Director.

Tasked by the Board of Directors with reviewing the budget and books in an effort to slash the budget thereby saving the company from insolvency. This responsibility required interdepartmental cooperation and substantial cuts in labor and the sale of assets.

Unfortunately, I found there was no budget or appetite for change so we sold assets in two states and our corporate entity in Indianapolis to avoid bankruptcy. We still own the building at 100% equity with no outstanding debt.

*Work Experience (Cont.)

May, 1986 - Sep, 1996

A&P Technician, Maintenance Planner for American Trans Air

Indianapolis, IN

I am an approved Airframe/Power-Plant Technician licensed to work on Commercial and Private Aircraft.

My duties at ATA led me throughout the world troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining L1011, 727, 757 aircraft or aircraft engines.

I served as Dayshift Lead Tech, Turbine Engine Overhaul Shop for 7 years.

Just prior to leaving ATA, I served for 7 months as the 727 Heavy Maintenance Planner responsible for 25 aircraft and every aspect of heavy maintenance planning.

*Additional Skills

I see concepts as they interrelate to one another to include the time, interpersonal factors and cost. I have the desire to persevere through adversity.

I enjoy innovation where it interplays with project challenges or customer related issues. This is how I love to work: Brainstorming solutions, Innovate Products or Develop Processes to "Fix" any problem. I like coming at challenges from outside the mainstream with unconventional ideas and solutions. They are not necessarily the cheapest or the best but I believe that high energy, high impact solutions challenge others to see and think outside their comfort zone thereby providing a range of ideas that otherwise might not come to the surface. This is where high quality solutions can create a positive impact on those encouraged to be involved and invest themselves in the process.

*Achievements

I am part of a loving Christ centered marriage.

Our marriage has been blessed with two wonderful daughters whose desires for Character, Friendship, Kindness, Generosity, are hallmarks in their lives.

We have no debt outside of a line of credit on our 2nd home in Carmel, IN.

I have an Airframe & Power Plant Rating issued by the FAA in 1986.

I have had the privilege to take our family company from a gross of 1.3M to averaging 4.2M in 4 years with a net ROI of 37% prior to a customer change in business strategy.

I have been privileged to serve on and guide two NFPs as Chairman of the Board (Camptown & The Summit Academy), seeing Camptown through the long illness and death of its President and Founder (Tom Lehman), the search for new leadership and the provisions for continued growth in the years following Toms death. Camptown has thrived to this day under the leadership of Don Schafer.

My second experience was The Summit Academy; a classical education center K-12 which required a ground up restructuring for which I was asked in May of 2008 to take the chairmanship and assemble a board from scratch during a tumultuous time in an attempt to save the school. The school was able to continue for an additional 2 years.
