Project Co-engineering Manager

* Led the engineering team from Sonatrach( Algerian Hydrocarbon Company) for the feasibility studies, conceptual design, and the evaluation of different alternatives in order to increase the production to 550 million barrels of oil and gas at Rhourd El Baguel field in Algeria. Identified,

* Selected and awarded the contract to design, engineering, procurement and construction of the facility to M.W Kellogg. Responsible for project control, approvals of schedule, equipment specifications, bid evaluation, testing of compressors, generators, pressure vessels D.C.S. control valves. The project consists of oil and gas gathering, separation, treatment, processing and gas injection to the oil reservoir.

SONATRACH 1980-1995

Project Manager

* Designed, managed and supervised two projects to compress the produced gas at Hassi R'mel and Hassi Messaoud in Algeria. Both projects consist of gathering low pressure associated gas to be compressed to a higher pressure for injection, or as feed to NGL or LPG plant downstream. Awarded the project to Nuovo Pignone of Italy in 1993 and SOFREGAZ of France in 1994 respectively.

* Responsible for project and cost control, approval process, bid evaluation, equipment specifications, material transportation and construction. The construction plant by Nuovo Pignone was designed to successfully compress 141 SCF of gas/day from 116 psi to 2900 psi through 4 trains. The plant by Sofregaz was designed to handle 1.76 BSCF gas/day applying pressure 70 psi to 1050 psi through 10 trains.

* Successfully conducted the feasibility studies and evaluation for the development of Hassi R'mel and In Amenas oil fields ranked #1 and #3 in Algeria. Two projects were approved and awarded for the design, engineering and construction of two plants one to KOBE Steel of Japan to recover LPG from 2.1BSCF/day of natural gas, the other a gathering and compression plant to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to compress 230MSCF/day of low pressure associated gas after condensate recovery, for injection into the oil reservoir. Part of this gas was supplied to the gas lift system to enhance oil recovery at the In Amanas oil field.

SONATRACH 1977-1980

Project Engineer

* Identified, implemented project schedule, bid evaluation, manufacturers recommendation and selection, equipment specifications. Selected and awarded the project to Stone & Webster.

* Managed performance of the contractors, strictly implemented and control the cost of the project from the engineering phase to construction and completion of the gas plant.

SONATRACH 1974-1976

Facilities Engineer

Engaged in the modifications, maintenance and operations of the In Amenas oil and gas field in southern Algeria ranked #3 after Hassi Messaoud and Rhourd El Baguel fields.

Was in charge mainly of the maintenance of the installations managing anticorrosion and modifications with a dedicated team of anticorrosion activated of inhibitors injection,checking continually the thickness of the equipements, monitoring cathodic protection of pipeline and oil and gas tanks. Got my extensive knowledge of NDT with acquiring courses in England by C.W.E which has been charged by my company as Assistant in Preventive Maintenance.
