As a Phlebotomist my responsibilities included patient registration with a heavy volume of patient draws during the morning rush. Establishing patient identification and photo copying also ensuring that the patient was aware of the new law that passed regarding Medicare benefits. Drawing patients between the age of newborn to geriatrics. Spin all blood that was to be processed and pour off any anti-coagulant specimens that is not to sit on red blood cells. Specimens were spun down accordingly and accurately matched with patient paperwork and bagged and refrigerated for the couriers to pick up. Call the stat lab ahead of time to let them know that we were drawing a stat blood draw and for a courier pick up. Clean off any and all patient seating at the end of the day and make sure that all the lab equipment was free of any debris. Make sure that the waiting room was clean and organized for the following day. I was scheduled to some days open up the patient draw center at six am to get a head start for patients that day.
