HUMAN RESOURCES/BUSINESS MANAGEMENT
Administration Analysis Development
Consumer Education Communications Employee Relations
Summary...
Articulate and capable, I combine strong interpersonal and leadership
skills
with attention to detail and multiple proficiencies. A team player
unafraid to
initiate action and take calculated risks, I believe in supporting the
organization's interests to the best of my ability. Able to work
autonomously
or coordinate the efforts of multiple internal and external clients, I
am known
as an analytical employee who maintains a broad perspective while
achieving
specific goals.
Capabilities Profile...
More than 23 years of experience with SBC Communications Inc. (SBC)
has prepared
me to be a valued employee of any organization. I have worked the last
seven
years in the Human Resources department managing the computation,
recommendation and delivery of employee benefits to active, retired
and
separated employees as well as to their surviving spouses and
dependents; I also
wrote and developed career path training courses for nonbargained
employees.
During my career with SBC, I also have worked in the Marketing
department,
Procurement department, and Support Services department. All of my SBC
assignments have included extensive intra- and inter-departmental
process
analysis and documentation responsibilities.
My proven capabilities are applicable in a variety of areas, including
administration; advertising; business analysis, development, and
management;
corporate and consumer communications; employee and consumer
education; external
and government affairs; human resources; long range planning;
marketing; and
public affairs and relations.
Key Career Accomplishments...
Currently providing human resources consulting services on-site at VDK
Frozen Foods in Saint Louis.
Participated in and contributed to the 1996-1998 benefits outsourcing
efforts of SBC Communications Inc., a project that required the
transfer of
knowledge and culture to the vendor chosen to deliver SBC pension and
survivor
benefits. The transfer demanded close contact and coordination with
the New
Jersey vendor, Kwasha HR Solutions, an operating unit of
PricewaterhouseCoopers
LLP (PwC), including direct support of its training and internal
documentation
efforts. In conjunction with this project and prior to my separation
from SBC,
PwC solicited and contracted my consulting services as it began its
management
and delivery of SBC health and welfare benefits. Following my
separation from
SBC, I rendered these services on-site for a period of ten weeks at
Kwasha's
Raleigh, North Carolina service center, and ten additional weeks from
my home
office.
Advised and assisted the HR/payroll SAP conversion team in the 1997
development of business rules and procedures for the future
environment delivery
of payroll-contingent benefits to active employees.
Appointed to lead the Saint Louis contingent of a 1995 SBC task force
formed to search for and select a new life insurance carrier, a
project
initiated by senior management at SBC's move from Missouri to Texas.
My
knowledge and experience of benefits delivery and group life
insurance, along
with my professional relationship with the incumbent vendor, General
American,
allowed me to illustrate the immediate advantages of maintaining the
status quo
as well as the disadvantages of a premature dissolution of the
relationship. My
efforts were key to the continuation of the SBC/General American
partnership
through the present and for the foreseeable future.
Participated in and contributed to the design, and planned and
executed
the 1994 rollout, of the Employee Beneficiary Designation summary plan
description and user materials necessary to major benefit plan
revisions
affecting SBC Communications and all of its subsidiaries.
Co-established in 1992 in Saint Louis, Missouri the Survivor Benefits
Unit
(SBU) of HR's Benefit Services operation, consolidating and
centralizing the
delivery of death benefits for SBC and all of its subsidiaries.
Participated
and assisted in the design of the SBU's mechanized systems.
Represented the Human Resources department as a member of the 1991
Communications Workers of America (CWA)/SBC United Way Campaign team.
Planned
and executed internal United Way presentations.
Appointed a member of the SBC 1991 Labor Relations bargaining team,
participating in pre-bargaining assessment and planning activities and
acting in
an advisory/inquiry response capacity during CWA bargaining sessions.

Co-established in 1990 in Lubbock, Texas Marketing's Business Products
Promotion Center (BPPC), SBC's first call center operation, and
coordinated the
installation and maintenance of the BPPC's mechanized systems. Managed
Marketing's companywide office automation system, including user
training and
hardware problem resolution.
Co-established in 1985 in Saint Louis, Missouri Procurement's
Intellectual
Property Unit, a group of specialists trained to evaluate
company-initiated
inventions and proprietary processes. Served as liaison with Legal for
the
pursuit of patents and copyrights, and negotiated license and
sublicense
agreements for the use by vendors and manufacturers of SBC
intellectual
property.
Tracked in 1983 all major SBC reorganization activities for the
purchasing
division of Procurement as required by the Department of
Justice/federal
court-ordered divestiture of AT&T. This involved coordination with all
levels
of Procurement personnel and the use and administration of a
Bellcore-provided
mechanized tracking system.
Provided in 1981 procurement support to El Paso, Texas operations
during
El Paso's ownership transition from Mountain Bell to SBC. This project
involved
product and supplier conversion assistance, direct and remote field
assistance
and the development and provision of methods and on-site training
services to El
Paso personnel.
Initiated, beginning in 1975 and continuing into 1983, the assumption
of
procurement-related duties previously handled by Western Electric and
SBC
general level departments. These included the development,
documentation and
administration of methods and procedures for document and supply
purchasing and
distribution, and for the retention and disposal of company records.
