Major accomplishment in the development of a Finite Element program for a novel electro-mechanically coupled system of intelligent structures and the development of Shape Control optimization algorithms - leading to the award of PhD.

EDUCATION:

Postgraduate 1997 - 2000

- Aeronautical Engineering.

Static Shape Control of Composite Laminated Plate Smart Structures Using Piezoelectric Actuators. The main aim has been the investigation of the incorporation of piezoelectric actuators

in composite laminated plate structures for the application of shape control. That is producing

a shape that conforms to the desired shape by applying the appropriate voltages. Mathematical method involves the Hamiltonian Variational Principle,

coupled electro-mechanical constitutive equations, Finite Element theory. Numerical analysis required the development of a software that incorporates

the theoretical aspects of this research, resulting in a Finite Element software. Development of a shape control algorithm that automatically determines the magnitude

and location of applied voltages to manipulate the shape of the structure. 3D visualization routines were developed to aid the visualization of the

geometry and other field properties of the structure. Tertiary
