Operations Engineer, CRRA Mid-Connecticut Project
Researched, processed and tracked projects for the repair and enhancement of a Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) facility and a Waste to Energy (WTE) facility. Managed document control processes, change orders, contractor billings, warranties, and final acceptance of various projects. On site Safety coordinator for CRRA maintaining all safety incidences and documentation. Responsible for extensive security system including the retrieving of video to be used for training, violations, and defense. Processed vendor invoices and managed on site projects ranging from new equipment, repair of old equipment, new roofing, and new projects to extend the life of the facility.
* Responsible for the procurement, bidding process and installation of a new Ingersoll Rand Instrument air compressor at the power block facility.
* Prepared a Parasitic Load report on the entire Mid-CT facility and researched a Lighting Conservation Project. Installed lighting improvements at the RDF facility for an overall energy savings of 25% resulting in a payback of about four years.
* Researched and procured new sootblowers for one of our three CE boilers. Blowers are of the new 'Smart' design and are programmable to blow soot based on the needs of the system. Came in on time and on budget, allowing for the extension of boiler cleanings resulting in a payback of less than three years.
* Directed and supervised the installation of a state of the art security camera system at the RDF facility. Supervised the daily progress and held contractor to the contract. Developed step by step procedures on retrieving video and worked with O&M Contractor to reduce safety violation, metal theft, and injuries.
* Member of the transition team from an O&M of 20 + years to a new O&M Company. Worked with new O&M management team to smooth out difficulties in getting new employees up to par on expected operations of the facilities.
* Worked with contractors bringing the power block facility up to par for NERC requirements. Over saw the installation of security cameras, intercom, monitors and the RIG into the control room.
