Art Director

General info

Sydney, Australia

I'm an Art Director with a passion for all things advertising and visual. If the story is told through pictures - you'll have my undivided attention. I have a wealth of advertising and design knowledge that you can benefit from. My second love is photography, closely followed by cycling. Coming back to advertising...I have been fortunate enough to have worked in a few leading international above the line agencies.

Like TBWA, JWT, Y&R and EURO RSCG. In my time within these agencies, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with many great minds & produce work to match, on a number of international brand campaigns, as well as win a few globally recognised awards along the way, across media types such as Integrated, TV, print, press, outdoor, digital & DM.

In my career thus far, I have been responsible for conceptualising, strategic thought, creative implementation, presenting work, pitches, directing both still and TVC shoots, directing retouchers, production, managing junior teams, to name but

a few.

I feel that I am an asset to any agency, with a great sense of team spirit and a strong work ethic, combined with a wealth of software knowledge, I'm able to work quickly & efficiently on the Mac.

I hope you enjoy my portfolio as much as I did producing it.

Ciao - Gavin

A small team worked at the agency, so I got my hands dirty at various levels on projects. The CD was a designer, hence the need for an AD for more of the advertising work.

Totalsports (Sporting Retailer), Woolworths (Retail Store), Picardi Rebel (Bottle Shop Group)

Role:

My first job and the agencies first unpaid art director. I was so keen to get into the agency. I decided to do it for nothing. I worked with my very first writer, which was such a great experience. We worked on a small clutch of clients, which the agency grew over time.

Under a close, watchful eye of the CD, we conceptualised and produced a number of press ads, brochures and various other pieces of collateral for one of the countries leading grocery stores. The CD was an old school Ad guy who let me believe that I could do anything and that showed in the work I was producing in the agency from this very early stage in my career.

He taught me to believe in myself and have faith in the work I produced. I was given a fair amount of responsibility at an early stage and I flourished.

Achievements:

One of my first jobs was to art direct and style the important Christmas brochure for the agencies largest client - The largest budget project for the year. I spent a full week in studio, shooting the entire content then moved on to art directing the final layouts with the support & encouragement of the CD.
