at UW campuses with less state money backing them as part of a goal to decrease spending

per student.

Britain seeking solution to government debt - Belfast, Northern Ireland - British Prime

Minister David Cameron is calling for reinforcements to help him deal with the country's

massive debt, which has been caused by nonstop spending, severe recession and declining

tax revenue. According to the UK's Centre for Policy Studies, at the end of 2008, the

national debt was 1,340 billion pounds ($2,090 billion USD), which was 103.5% of GDP. This

figure includes all the public sector pension liabilities such as pensions, and Private

Palestinian terrorism killed more than 1,000 Israelis. As a portion of U.S. population,

that would be 42,000, approaching the toll of America's eight years in Vietnam. During the

onslaught, which began 10 Septembers ago, Israeli parents sending two children to a school

would put them on separate buses to decrease the chance that neither would return for

dinner. Surely most Americans can imagine, even if their tone-deaf leaders can not, how

grating it is when those leaders lecture Israel on the need to take "risks for peace."

DOT withdraws Oconomowoc rail station; city officials stunned - The state Department of

Transportation has dropped plans for a high-speed rail station in Oconomowoc, claiming

Wasn't that the sky falling? - Man the life boats! Not even a split second after

Cleveland's Phil Dawson shattered the dreams of another happy ending to the Shrine Game, a

patron at a watering hole far, far away from the Frozen Tundra slammed his glass on the

bar and exclaimed, "There goes the Super Bowl." Right.

Roster analysis: 30 locks and lots of holes - As it stands, the Packers have 30 players

judged to be locks to make the 53-man roster and six more that appear to be good bets.

Making an office visit at Lambeau - You can often tell a lot about people by the office

they work in and the pictures and mementos they hold dear in that space. With that in mind

I asked Packer coach Mike McCarthy if he would give us a tour of his Lambeau Field office.

Debut turned into a night to forget - It's a good thing Sam Shields has a short memory.

As a rookie cornerback trying to crack the Green Bay Packers' roster, Shields had a

performance he'd rather forget against the Cleveland Browns at Lambeau Field Saturday

night.

QB outlook is two good - Two summers ago, Aaron Rodgers was a giant question mark and

Matt Flynn was a rookie fighting to make the team. Fast forward 24 months. Green Bay's

quarterback position rivals any in the National Football League.

Browns shred first-team defense - When you saw them last, Green Bay's defenders were

shredded for 531 total yards and 51 points in a playoff loss to Arizona. Seven months

later, things looked eerily familiar.

Special Reports

Without FEMA, community looks inward - Faced with denial of federal flood damage aid to

Milwaukee residents, one city neighborhood is looking within itself for help for victims

of July's deluges.

Volunteers to assist flood victims - Even as state officials appeal the Federal Emergency

Management Agency's decision not to award individual aid, others are asking members of the

community to help victims, preparing for the looming reality that no government funding

will come.

MMSD may boost funds for private lateral work - Homeowners who complained of sewage in

their basements in the wake of torrential rains and flooding July 22 have a role to play

in solving the problem, municipal officials said Wednesday, and the Milwaukee Metropolitan

Sewerage District might ante up $150 million to help pay costs.

How do you feel about Rex Ryan's swearing on HBO s 'Hard Knocks' series?

Ah, yes, Brett s back for the final year of his contract. Do you think this is really his

final season?
