Research Interests
Machine translation, computational syntax (parsing, tagging) and semantics (semantic role
labelling), machine learning for NLP. My dissertation focuses on using syntax to improve
statistical
machine translation for language pairs with syntactically governed word-order
differences. Specifically,
I use the flexible, word-centered syntax known as Combinatory Categorial Grammar (CCG) to
better
account for the syntactically non-traditional translation constituents that SMT systems
manipulate.
