I Supervise sexually violent persons held in state custody as detainees or residents in treatment. I am a front line officer in the Illinois Treatment and Detention Facility and have to use non verbal and verbal communications to know when a resident is in distress and try to resolve the issue. This may be through verbal commands or in extreme cases the use of restraints which are hand cuffs and shackles. I mush observe a resident in the daily living quarters to ensure that no fighting or sexual acting out is taking place and that residents are follow the directives of the facility. I work control center where I am responsible for recording resident movement through the facility and communicate this to the locations via a two way radio with use of 10 codes. I also control the housing unit doors via a touch screen computer to open and close them. I observe residents in daily living via closed circuit cameras as well. I also have a phone to answer and multiple living areas to keep an eye on, being able to multi task is a must. Two times on my shift I must conduct an official body count by securing residents in there rooms, where they remain until the total facility count has been verified. I work in other posts in the facility with residents also but most have the same primary duties. These posts are dietary, commissary, gyms, yards, grounds crew, health care, and horticulture. I also take residents to court appointments and hospital or doctors appointments on occasion. On such appointments residents are restrained with waist chains and shackles. Our primary objective is to ensure residents do not escape or have unnecessary contact with the civilians in the places that we go. We must keep in contact with our facility on a regular check in basis so they know our progress and location as we travel the entire state at times. We also train on a yearly basis in defensive tactics, crisis prevention and intervention and individual and room shake downs to check for contraband items. One of the more intensive classes is report writing as it is important for tickets to stick and in some cases can make a criminal case as well. I am also a certified CPR instructor at the facility licensed through the American Heart Association for basic life saving skills. Understanding and utilizing a chain of command is very important in this position for safety and legal reasons.

Okay to contact this Supervisor: Yes
As a security guard I worked in an industrial setting responsible for several rounds per shift in areas that were empty and in production. I had to make rounds to specific locations and hit a key device to be downloaded later to ensure I had made the round and in a timely fashion. While on rounds I was to look for fire, breaking and entering or vandalism along with safety violations. If I found any violations I was to report them to the shift supervisor immediately. I also monitored many cameras via a closed circuit camera system. While in the office I greeted truck drivers delivering and picking up trailers and handed out packing slips for trailers and collecting them from the drop offs. I directed new drivers to loading docks as necessary also. After 5pm the companies main switchboard was shut down and I answered all calls coming into the factory as well. At the end of the evening I would record the days events on a DAR or daily activity report just in case the main office needed to refer to it later.

CSR/Billing Specialist/Force Desk Operator
As a CSR for Supra Telecom I converted customers to our phone service or answered questions that they may have had about the service. I would place line change orders for them and run tests on troubled lines as well. As a billing specialist my sole duty was to look into accounts with in which the customer had a dispute on the billing. Some issues were simple to correct, while others could be complex and take reviewing years of records and hours of work. I could not satisfy all customer disputes as some were not legitimate. At peak call times I would get on the phone and take standard calls to help clear out the call que and reduce wait times as well. As a Force Desk Operator I had multiple monitors to review showing all CSR call times and if they were logged onto the system or not to receive calls. I could observe CSR's in the Quincy, Miami, and Costa Rican offices. If I saw that the call hold times and number of calls in the que was too great, I would shift calls to other centers to have the customers helped faster. I also helped my supervisor in the Force Desk to complete the weekly CSR schedule which made up 150 people. This position and the Quincy center was eliminated and all were laid off.
