Experience: Over 35 years of full-time experience in all phases of the construction industry, with specialization in project controls, specifically estimating, cost and scheduling of projects. Most projects ranged from EPC of commercial to heavy construction and turnarounds, and were generally associated with petrochemical and heavy industrial plants.
I have been a Beta tester for Primavera on several occasions for various software releases. I have estimated, planned and scheduled large projects and turnarounds. I have put together budget estimates for large petrochemical projects and executed them. I also worked as a consultant to school and monitor contractors using Primavera products.
My career has provided me the opportunity to work with a host of clients and to become very proficient with Primavera. I have worked almost all phases of projects associated with petrochemical work. I have taught Finest Hour and Primavera on several occasions and have given mini-seminars on Project Controls to college students upon request from clients.
I am flexible in my work habits and can lead a group of people with ease as well as perform the work myself. I believe that being a good project controls person starts with enjoying this type of work.
It should be noted that a large part of my work career has been job/project specific or hands on consultant type work whether executing or teaching clients and organizations.

Duties: Lead Scheduler for FCCU Emergency Shutdown. The unit crashed causing extreme line and equipment fouling from catalyst plugging. All major equipment and pumps had to be opened, cleaned, sent out to shops, and repaired (both on-site and off-site). All PSV?s, C/V?s and Piping had to be checked for catalyst plugging. The catalyst reversal was deemed as the ?Critical Path? of the entire FCCU turnaround.
Not only did we exceed expectations, but we pulled the critical path inside of the overall turnaround by planning, scheduling and safely executing the plan. We met 3 to 4 times a day to review status and monitor any changes and findings. We constantly updated and revised the schedule to make sure we optimized the available manpower and construction resources.

Job Descriptions / Duties

Planner - Participated in scope of work development. Walked jobs, estimated durations and manpower, sized / quantified cranes and construction equipment, and estimated indirect labor and supervision required to execute the work. Developed logic networks to support C.P.M. scheduling.
Cost - Generally associated with estimating, planning and scheduling. In most cases, the cost work I performed was specific to a scope of work, a project or a turnaround. Developed budgets, tracked trends, tracked change orders, tracked actual expenditures, tracked commitments, and forecasted and reported job status and productivity.
Scheduler - Imported / Exported data from estimates when available, but was required on several occasions to build the estimate, durations, manpower loading, code structure and logic while developing the scope inside of the schedule. I have used a variety of scheduling software packages. However, Primavera is my software of choice and the software of choice for most industry leaders when it comes to cpm scheduling. Some of the markets included: engineering, commercial work, power generation, industrial, petrochemical, pulp and paper mills, along with small steel mills.
Supervisor - I have had the rare opportunity to work with a variety of clients and to supervise people from almost every skill and education level available. And I might note that I directed most of the projects with great success. I believe in working smarter, not harder; however, with that said, it requires good leadership skills and a clear definition of the objective and a defined timeline for accomplishing the task at hand.
