I'm 23 years old and this is the first resume Ive had to submit so I would appreciate your patience. When I was 18, I got my cdl and started driving a log truck for my dads business. As a driver of a small log trucking outfit with no mechanics, Ive been responsible for all maintenance ( wiring, greasing, washing, oil changes) on my truck and between the 4 trucks my dad runs I have fixed or helped fix about everything there is to break. I'm use to the alarm clock going off before 3am and working long hours. Ive heard that it doesn't look good when your only employment is the family business but as an operator, when your 20 miles into the woods theres nobody to call when it came time to fix and Macgyver. And as a co-owner Ive never been paid by the hour so you'll get full effort at all times, I wouldn't know how to milk a clock. With the timber industry getting worse and worse and my desire to drive for a living getting lower and lower Ive decided to get out now. Went to Bates for a semester a year ago where I got a lot of practice in welding 7018 and 6010 and have many welds still holding on trucks beating up and down logging roads today. Unfortunately the schedule of getting up at 3 in the morning and getting off just in time to get to class from 3-10 at night M-F was a bit much and had to make a choice at the end of the semester. I'm a quick learner and take pride in only having to be told something once.
