Senior Technical ConsultantADC

Public Company; 5001-10,

000 employees; ADCT; Telecommunications industry

May 2003November 2003 (7 months)

-Team Leader / Mentor / Senior Analyst / Data Architect for the development of Java & ASP

applications using multiple IDEs on Oracle platforms. I provided full project start to

finish responsibility for the analysis and design activities for many many projects over

the years. I will try to touch on a few of the details here over the next few sections.

-Provided responsibility for the analysis and design activities in the areas of

integration to external systems with the external vendor Air2Web in Atlanta for the

wireless component of ADCs Order Tracking and Status projects. This B-to-B project

utilized secure XML and java Servlets to exchange data and processing between these two

companies via https. I architected and developed a framework of middleware Java listeners

that would accept XML formatted requests, then retrieve content and data via JRFC and JCO

modules from SAP, and JDBC to retrieve data from Oracle, and then reformat the data into

XML documents which were returned to Air2Web to deliver to wireless devices such as cell

phones and palm pilots, etc. This framework could then be extended to perform multiple

other B-to-B type requests.

-This and many other projects allowed me to provide responsibility for the analysis and

design activities in the areas of detailed design support, test planning and execution and

cutover planning and execution.

Senior Technical ConsultantADC

Public Company; 5001-10,

000 employees; ADCT; Telecommunications industry

May 2002May 2003 (1 year 1 month)

(continued from previous)

-Designed / developed a Java middle tier framework and web front end (SRS) to replace the

CIC SAP service request system to replace and consolidate several after market systems

using an eportal environment. This application utilized shared data from SAP, the ADC

Oracle Data warehouse, and the ADC Oracle eCommerce database. A custom data persistence

scheme was implemented to cache data obtained from all three areas on a central java

application server for both internal and external (customer) use. This system is the

forerunner of a custom CRM solution designed and architected by me in conjunction with

several client stakeholders. Through many JAD sessions we created data flow diagrams and

workflow process models while capturing requirements. After meetings, these were validated

in Rational Rose and represented to clients to ensure all questions were answered or at

least addressed. Each step consisted of cost / benefit analysis to ensure that the best

solution was being selected.

-Along with each application, a corresponding custom application administration module

was created to allow clients to maintain / alter data and workflow (to some extent)

themselves without requiring IT assistance. These modules greatly reduced the number of

calls to the IT department as well as increasing client satisfaction with the ability to

get data changes done quickly when they wanted them done.

-Demonstrated strong analytical skills by modeling, designing and implementing multiple

Oracle database schemas utilizing Erwin diagrams which I architected using modeling tools

following industry standards.

-Performed extensive development of relational database design, database architecture,

and data modeling through to physical data model implementation.

-Reviewed multiple existing database designs and provided insight and made

recommendations for corrections based on proper RDBMS normalization and denormalization

tactics.

Senior Technical ConsultantADC

Public Company; 5001-10,

000 employees; ADCT; Telecommunications industry

May 2001May 2002 (1 year 1 month)

(continued from previous)

-Continually incorporated changes into master models to ensure accurate database rebuilds

from DDL scripts during schema dropping and recreation with a focus on constraints,

dependencies and stored procedures in packages. I validated and verified Oracle PL/SQL

code before production release.

-Acted as the primary resource for downloading (via ODBC, TCP/IP, SQLNet, etc) and

reverse engineering multiple Oracle and SqlServer database schemas into Erwin. I expertly

used Erwin to forward and reverse engineer IDEF / IDEF1X models and DDL, recognized and

recommended alternatives to details and data elements that meant the same and contained

the same content through JAD sessions with multiple clients and stakeholders. I altered

business models and data models to fit new business requirements while keeping in mind

possible future needs. I cleaned up data models for printing and created data dictionaries

for other staff to work with. Please note: I firmly believe that there is a huge

difference between someone who can connect and simply reverse engineer schemas and someone

who can massage that data model into something understandable and easy for others to read

and enhance.

-Provided technical prototypes to allow clients to evaluate proposed configuration / code

changes and upgrades to ensure that all strategic requirements were being properly

addressed.

-Constantly demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills when meeting with

multiple steering committees and high level clients to determine business processes and

new requirements while keeping budgets and time constraints on track.

-Constantly transformed business requirements into data models using Rational Rose, and

mentored others along the way.

-Provided object oriented application design and development while providing team

leadership

-Provided Analysis, Design and Development Mentorship to 9+ Java developers and

consultants on large and multiple projects.

Senior Technical ConsultantADC

Public Company; 5001-10,

000 employees; ADCT; Telecommunications industry

May 2000May 2001 (1 year 1 month)

(continued from previous)

-Converted paper forms into a Java / Oracle Database Internet support system

-Created an eCommerce enterprise messaging sub-system class library with Java / Oracle.

This system allowed internal clients to predefine and maintain standard and custom email

message templates that would be delivered to customers under circumstances that the

clients could also control to some extent. This system also allowed clients to generate

custom tag libraries that would either deliver custom data content that they predetermined

in their templates or this system would allow for other Business Objects or Servlets to be

executed to gather and return appropriate data for inclusion in outgoing emails.

-Redesigned e commerce Product display, ordering web site, product content entry and

security for http://www.ADC.com. Each of these components also has an administration

portion that allowed clients to manage data.

-Designed and developed an entire employee stock option exchange application on an ASP /

IIS / Oracle platform utilizing Dreamweaver MX and Cold Fusion as the primary IDEs.

-Designed and developed an entire sales force objectives application on an ASP / IIS /

Oracle platform utilizing Dreamweaver MX and Cold Fusion as the primary ASP IDEs.

-Migrated multiple applications from middleware tools such as SilverStream 2.0-2.5x to

SilverStream 3.74 for both Intranet and Internet platforms

-Initiated project conversions to J2EE using JSP, Servlets, EJBs, JDBC, etc.

-Ongoing review and evaluation of many middleware, middle tier products such as Novell

SilverStream Extend, WebLogic, WebSphere, WSAD, TogetherJ

-Demonstrated high-pressure problem solving and decision making skills by providing

first, second and third lines of International Global Production Support for all

applications as required.

elicit dependencies between many requirements.

-Developed normal/de-normalized environments to ensure proper data integrity and system

performance

-Evolved the ministry's data architecture strategy and developed multiple physical data

models based on logical designs and communicated with the Database administrator to

incorporate proper performance considerations.

-Managed projects while mentoring subordinates

-Redesigned Excel / Oracle Forms v3 databases and applications implementing Enterprise

Intranet solutions using Erwin, Oracle / Enterprise Manager / SQL, PowerBuilder,

SilverStream Java

-Used Macromedia Dreamweaver for prototyping and as an application GUI design tool.

- Developed an extremely high profile Provincial Water Management System (SilverAWLS

Automated Water Leveling System) as a java application that is used to manage all the

water flows and dam water levels throughout the lower Ontario watersheds.

-Performed data redesign and migration for the Provincial Land Index System from Oracle

Forms to a PowerBuilder / Oracle platform. This project required large data design and

structuring analysis where I had to conceptualize, define and develop complex data

architecture solutions while cleaning existing data. Data migration required new

structures and additional data elements to properly incorporate this application into

other enterprise level data systems.
