Dr. Sala-Diakanda s research focuses on designing robust methods for the formalization
and transfer of systems
engineering methodologies to nontraditional systems engineering sectors, including
healthcare delivery, energy
distribution and disaster management. He has published in refereed journals and presented
at several conferences.
His current academic service activities are focused on articulating his department s
vision of becoming a center of
excellence for systems engineering education and research. He is director of the
Institute for Advanced Systems
Engineering (IASE) Laboratory, where systems engineering research, education and industry
training are
performed. He has established the University of Central Florida s first systems
engineering student chapter of the
International Council of Systems Engineering (INCOSE).
Core competencies (education and research):
Modeling and Model-Based Systems Data and Information Systems Complexity
Simulation (discrete, Engineering Fusion
agent-based, systems
dynamic)
