HISTORY AND HIGHLIGHTS

CFA Society of San Francisco

2011 to 2012

Recruited to be first Chief Executive and spokesperson of this $1.2M regional financial association representing 3,100+ investment industry professionals. Served as key liaison to SF Bay investment industry firms, regulators and press.

* Overhauled board governance infrastructure and bylaws to ensure compliance; implemented board governance "best practices."

* Replaced an archaic infrastructure. CFASF's membership database, CRM, document management and financial accounting systems were costly, inefficient and exposed the society to legal risks. Selected and implemented a new management system and website. Projected to cut expenses 20% and increased efficiencies.

* Modernized delivery via internet of CFASF's live CFA exam review programs, generating a 15% increase in program revenues (projected for 2012-2013 sessions). Created new membership category and marketing campaign targeted at non-CFA investment industry professionals projected to yield a 15% increase in revenues in 2012.

President

Western Independent Bankers (WIB) Service Corporation

2000 to 2011

Recruited as President of for-profit subsidiary of this $3M regional banking association providing C-Suite professional education and endorsed products and services to nearly 400 community banks in the Western U.S. and U.S. Territories. Also served as Senior Vice President Member Services of Western Independent Bankers and as Secretary and Board Member of the WIB Workers' Comp Self-Insurance Group (WIBSIG).

* Led the development of and managed endorsed vendor/product portfolio of 16 companies and 25 products/services (research, due diligence, legal, marketing, sales).

* Established the WIB workers' Comp Self-Insurance Group (WIBSIG), the first ever, Federally approved, workers' comp self-insured group for banks in California. Saved participating WIB member banks between 20%-30% on their annual workers' comp premiums without sacrificing loss prevention and claims management services.

* Key WIB liaison to associate vendor members and WIBSIG bank members, regulators, and media. Led six-person team. P&L responsibility for $1MM for-profit subsidiary and related projects.

* Prevailed when vendor breached contract. WIB's largest endorsed vendor, who generated 33% of WIB Service Corporation's revenue, unilaterally terminated its endorsement with WIB, in violation of its contract. Devised legal strategy and initiated legal action against the vendor. Negotiated $300K settlement from the vendor.

* Overcame a crisis. Devised an emergency communication plan, averting potential $500M deposit redemption run on endorsed mutual fund partner, stabilizing community banks in program.

* Increased WIB's revenue & maximized value of WIB's endorsement brand. Revenue from WIB's few endorsed products was insignificant. Overhauled vendor management process, all marketing materials and added 16 new, innovative endorsed products to WIB's portfolio. Boosted overall revenue 250%+, total number of banks using endorsed vendors' products 100%+ and new associate membership (prospective endorsed vendors) 40%.

Developed and managed endorsed financial services and technology product portfolio for this $7M regional association. Directed seven marketing/sales field staff. Managed Hawaii and Pacific Northwest operations.

AstraZeneca

1994 to 1996

Head of US government affairs office and key spokesperson for $7B international, bio-pharmaceutical corporation. Liaison to Executive and Legislative branches plus Federal regulatory agencies. Led development of government policy/lobbying positions. Managed national PAC and grassroots programs. Directed five staff/consultants.

* Devised federal crisis communication plan and averted $70M default on Export-Import Bank loan guarantee.

* Grew corporate PAC program membership 200% and PAC contributions 300% over three years.

* Created and implemented national corporate grassroots program and Board of Directors' issues management database.

* Fast tracked lengthy, regulatory approval process, generating $30M increase in revenues and $10M savings in import duties. Secured support of Delaware's U.S. Senators and Governor, who intervened on behalf of AstraZeneca with Federal regulators to expedite approval of company's Foreign Trade Zone application. Gained approval in 10 months (vs. the standard, 18-month timeline), resulting in net $40M financial advantage to company.

The National Association Of Realtors is America's largest trade association, representing 1.1 million members. Served as chief policy adviser and spokesperson for all financial services legislation. Led development of policy / advocacy positions (testimony, regulatory comments, press releases). Directed eight lobbyists. Worked extensively with Congress and media.

* Primary adviser to $2M PAC for California congressional elections.

* Key adviser on national industry task force to develop electronic Multiple Listing Service (MLS) (now Realtor.com).

* Secured favorable outcome in federal legislation to license RE appraisers and dispose of commercial RE assets from failed S&Ls.
