Increased bakery sales by 30 percentage within a month of my arrival to the Misawa Commissary. By increasing the amount and variety of the breads, cookies and cakes we baked as well as instituting announcements of the freshly baked breads to the customers.

Lead Baker and Cake Decorator

I started out as both an opening baker and closing baker. The bakery soon hired another employee and I trained her on all of the procedures within the bakery. All the while I was being trained by the Cake Decorator and Supervisor. When the Cake Decorator/Supervisor became very ill I was asked by the Commissary Manager if I was able to take over her duties. I did so, increasing my work load voluntarily, until she was able to return.

The first week of her illness I started my work day at 6:00am preparing the Bakery for operation by checking all of the products for expiration and/or price reduction. Amending the list made by the closing baker and then baking the first batch of breads to be ready when the store opened. I then would start with the cake orders for that day, all the while, serving customers by answering questions, taking orders or directing them to a different store employee if they required further help.

The second baker would arrive at 10:00am to take over the baking for the rest of the afternoon while I continued with the cake orders.

When the Cake Decorator/Supervisor returned there had been change in the entire management of the Deli/Bakery and she was made the manager of both departments while I was promoted to Lead Bakery Supervisor and Cake Decorator.

My duties following the promotion included what I had been doing before but added quite a few new tasks. I did the scheduling for the other two employees and the monitoring of the bakery's inventory and passing that information to the manager. I was also in charge of ordering all the supplies for the cakes. Which included all of the icing and decorating materials. I needed to be ahead of the curve and anticipate what themes (t.v shows or movies) would be popular and in demand when the supplies arrived over a month later.

I also trained the other two bakers on Cake Decorating, knowing that I pregnant and would be leaving when the time came, to ensure that the Bakery was not left without the proper experience.
