Education. Responsibilities include: plan, develop and

administer the academic programs of the School; provide strategic direction to

education-focused academic programs across the campus; foster and support faculty

efforts in teaching, scholarship, and grant writing; personnel management; recruiting

nationally recognized scholars; organize accreditation efforts; enhance relations with

external constituents, locally and internationally; collaborate with colleagues across the

University; raise the academic profile of the school; lead the faculty in the national

debate on advancing scholarship of P-20 education; and promote inclusion and diversity

in all aspects of school functioning.

Aug. 2008

- June 2010: In addition to my commitment to Monmouth University,

serving as the Head of the Education Department at the Headquarters of Huaxia Chinese

School, which has 19 branch schools in four different States (NJ, PA, NY, CT) with more

than 6,000 students.

July 2005

6/2011: Serving as the Department Chair of Curriculum and Instruction

(C&I); developed ESL endorsement program and Chinese teaching certificate program

aligned with the State and recognized by TESOL and ACTFL; successfully led the C&I

Department to earn national recognition for 8 of our program through NCATE; serving

as the University Coordinator of Language Minority Student Academic Support Services;

serving on Advisory Committee for Teaching at Huaxia Chinese School Plainsboro

Branch.

6/2011: teaching various courses in the areas of Curriculum and

Instruction, ESL and Foreign Language Education, and Literacy Development in the

School of Education at Monmouth University; supervising pre-service teachers for field

experience; providing academic advisement to education students for the department;

serving on various departmental, school, and university committees; providing

workshops to classroom teachers in local areas; revising existing courses and creating

new courses for the revised programs; involving in program revisions as part of NCATE

effort; engaging in scholarly activities (presenting and publishing academic papers).

July 2-19, 1996

: co-teaching MODERN LANGUAGES EDUCATION 480, a second

language methodology course, with Dr. Stephen Carey in Language Education

Department at UBC.

March 17-29, 1996: working for the BC Ministry of Education, Canada, on the

evaluation of second language learning resources to support the international language

curricula.
