Kathy Hassinger: Artistic Director of Dance Currents Inc. is currently teaching

Perspectives in World Dance and Ballet at Emerson College. She has produced numerous

full length dance concerts including: Dances to the Music of Archangelo Corelli, at The

Dance Complex in November, 2004, Three Modern Choreographers at Triskelion Arts in New

York, 2005 and Bridging the Gulf (2007) and The Haiku Project ( 2012) benefit dance and

music performances for victims of hurricane Katrina, and the Great Earthquake in Eastern

Japan. Dance Currents Inc. is known for their collection of famous modern dances, and in

January 2011 produced, One Hundred Years of Modern Dance at the Cambridge YMCA. These

dances are being incorporated with script and photos into a movie entitled, The Living

Legacy of Modern Dance. Theodore Bale, a national dance reviewer has written in the

Boston Herald, Perhaps the most thrilling thing about Kathy Hassinger s invigorating

Waylaid was its extraordinary clarity. One could observe the sequences without the least

confusion. Hassinger left her classically trained dancers barefoot and gave them phrase

after inventive phrase, set to pulsing blue-grass music. Mrs. Hassinger received a

Terrific Teacher award from the Calesea Foundation for encouraging self-esteem in

students.
