EXPERIENCE:

CNA Recovery Operations - Current

- Defense Base Act, War Hazard Recovery (Longshore claims); Responsible as subject matter expert to advise/assist compensation adjusters and management on potential and development of overseas claims for best possible recovery from the Department of Labor. Responsible to review, audit, research, prepare and send these claims to Department of Labor for reimbursement under the war hazard provisions of the Defense Base Act. The claim value involves millions of dollars annually in benefits paid and recovered.

- Auto/ WC Subrogation & Arbitration Specialist responsibilities included: Filing Auto, Property and Special arbitration for CNA consolidated recovery operations with authority to settle of $100,000 per line; File counter-claims; Protect company from erroneous arbitration by filing affirmative defense; monitor and collect awards, monitor decisions and appeal administrative errors to Arbitration Forums; Track file quality and completeness to assist in training recovery specialists; Identify file trends and settle or close files without arbitration when warranted. Subject matter expert on arbitration matters.

When necessary, investigate, evaluate, resolve liability, and negotiate recovery of worker compensation, material damage, property and medical subrogation claims. Conduct liability and product investigations on commercial worker compensation claims and coordination with experts, compensation adjusters, liability adjusters, plaintiff attorneys, defense and subrogation counsel. Audit claims for recovery potential in consideration of comparative or contributory negligence statutes. Authority is $100,000.

- Sr. Claim Representative (AIG Claim Service, Inc.)

Investigate, evaluate, negotiate and resolve liability, material damage, property and bodily injury claims of moderate to severe nature within prescribed authority. Determine proper coverage. Establish, recommend and authorize adequate and appropriate reserves and claim payment up to policy limits. Maintain current knowledge of all insurance lines, court decisions, and changes in policy. Manage and supervise litigated files with staff and outside counsel. Multi-state experience included; LA, MS, GA, AR, TN, AL, and multiple states in northeast, mid-Atlantic and west coast. As senior claims representative in the office, my experience was utilized to assist training and mentoring of claim representatives. Used AIG automated claim systems and software such as Wrexpert biomechanical low impact analysis. Litigated files averaged 65-70% of pending.
