Performed checkout and startup of gasifier subsystems (Oxygen feed, Coal Slurry injection, Nitrogen and Steam purges, lockhopper, etc.); led and participated in the approx. 1700 changes/fixes to the DCS logic involving over 620 control loops and over 7000 I/O; performed all ESD logic changes/fixes; assisted in all gasifier lightoffs to present as part of operations/maintenance responsibilities.

Lead Engineer on checkout and startup of ESD system equipment including datalink to DCS at IGCC facility.

Senior Engineer (Jan 91 - Dec 95)

Became IGCC plant I&C engineer on 7/1/95. Led checkout and startup of plant DCS system equipment; resolved process transmitter design problems involving about 600 transmitters.

Registered in Florida as a Professional Engineer in Control Systems Engineering on 2/21/95.

Supervised the lead controls engineer for new IGCC power plant. Defined controls scope and schedule; created DCS specification along with the lead controls engineer and other companies involved with project; evaluated DCS suppliers and bids; evaluated Emergency Shut Down system (ESD) bids; led DCS (Bailey Infi90) factory test; participated in ESD (Triconex) factory test.

Took over as lead engineer on Continuous Emissions Monitor (CEM) projects. Redefined scope and schedule; rewrote specifications; coordinated factory and field tests; revised design to fix problems.

Lead engineer for controls replacement for two Westinghouse 501 Gas turbine-generators; wrote specification, evaluated bids, selected DCS supplier (Bailey Infi90); project then transferred to subordinate; led factory test; participated in field installation and startup.

Lead I&C engineer on new power Combined Cycle plant project for "sister" company. Created project I&C design criteria; heavily involved in initial contract negotiations and subsequent work with turn-key plant supplier; responsible for all plant I&C; led factory and field test of plant DCS (Bailey Infi90); audited I&C field installation, checkout and startup procedures and activities; participated in plant commissioning.

Supervisor of company's production engineering instrumentation and controls group (two technicians and four engineers).

.

Consulting Engineer (Aug 88 - Dec 90)

Responsible engineer on boiler controls replacement project on two power plant units (Foxboro IA). Designed equipment interfaces; wrote, coded in C, and checked out unit performance monitor; created and maintained a 3200 point control system database; coordinated and performed DCS factory tests and field testing, checkout, startup and controls tuning.

Lead engineer on multi-year process computer replacement with Westinghouse WDPF DCS. Developed scope, budget and schedule; created bid specification, qualified bidders and evaluated bids;

created construction work packages; participated in factory checkout and field installation.

Principal Engineer (Aug 85 - Jul 88)

Support engineer for review, implementation and checkout of power plant performance monitor (Foxboro Fox 1A).

Created company standard for Distributed Control System (DCS) and plant computer system databases.

Appointed company engineering standards committee member.

Responsible engineer for design, checkout and startup of automatic turbine control program (Foxboro Fox 1A) on two power plant units.
