LUXOTTICA RETAIL NORTH AMERICA Mason, Ohio 1987-2010

A $4 billion provider of eyewear products and optometric services with over 5,000 retail

stores, 5 central manufacturing labs, and 6 distribution centers in North America. Brands

included: LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut, Pearle Vision, Sears Optical, and Target Optical.

Senior Manager - Inventory Control Services, (2008 - 2010)

Key leadership team member of the Inventory/Payables group responsible for oversight of

all physical verification procedures for retail stores and distribution entities ($300

million of inventory), as well as a call center supporting store inventory concerns.

Served as chief liaison between the Inventory Accounting team and functional areas such as

IT, Store Operations, and DC Operations to ensure that new initiatives or operational

changes were accompanied by processes or process modifications that ensured effective

control and proper accounting treatment. Responsible for designing and implementing

innovative solutions for brand initiatives that resulted in tangible savings and high

customer satisfaction.

Implemented SAP Retail as part of worldwide initiative to establish SAP as global

platform for Luxottica Group.

Achieved approximately $100K savings annually through the redesign of the Inventory

Adjustment process while improving customer satisfaction 25% in the call center.

Developed new analytics for shrink providing insight into risk based on store type,

volume, and product mix. Allowed for precise identification and targeting of Focus

Stores for subsequent Loss Prevention intervention.

Fully integrated the inventory for Optical Shops of Aspen on to Luxottica Retail s sub-

ledger. Allowed for timely takeover of financial reporting by Luxottica Retail within its

luxury division.

Designed process for rapid pullback of customer returned frames from LensCrafters stores

achieving goals of ascertaining dollar scope of inventory and retagging of frames to

highlight as previously used. The result was to eliminate potential litigation on the part

of some states Attorney Generals and the need for a physical inventory count, saving

$120K.

Developed Cycle Count Scorecard for Distribution Centers to allow for precise tracking of

cycle count coverage in order to ensure Luxottica Retail s Cycle Counting policy was

followed.

Senior Manager - Inventory Control Accounting, (2000 - 2008)

Team lead responsible for all inventory accounting activities including monthly sub-

ledger close, reviewing/approving all journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and

the development of capitalization and reserve processes. Supported external and Sarbanes

Oxley audit requirements.

Fully integrated the inventory for major acquisitions including Sunglass Hut, Watch

Station, Pearle Vision, Sears Optical, Target Optical, and BJ s Optical (also responsible

for valuing intangibles related to the inventory). Acquisitions led to a doubling of

Luxottica Retail s revenues and tripling of inventory.

Developed new analytics to better understand variance to forecast/plan; worked cross-

functionally to improve interlock between Product Planning and Brand Finance to reduce

forecasting errors.

Implemented Sarbanes Oxley by leading the team tasked with the initial drafting of

Inventory process narratives and the Inventory Risk Control Matrix.

Accounting Manager LensCrafters, (1995 - 2000)

Developed and oversaw the accounting team responsible for the preparation of journal

entries in support of the monthly closing of the general ledger and balance sheet

reconciliations. Responsible for identifying and researching variances to plan/forecast.

Partnered with financial planning to forecast cost of sales, cost of processing, and

inventory balances. Worked cross-functionally with the Product Group to develop and

prepare inventory reports for management of new parent company Luxottica.

Fully integrated JDA Inventory/Merchandising system as part of strategy to support growth

of LensCrafters.

Designed and participated in operational audits of LensCrafters stores and DC that

resulted in go-forward process modifications that led to greater control and efficiencies

within the operations.

Fully integrated the inventory for the EyeWorld acquisition and valued the intangibles

related to the inventory acquired.

Designed and implemented process changes for stores on how to handle defective and

damaged frames that resulted in $200K in annual savings and improved accuracy of inventory

records.

Staff/Senior Accountant LensCrafters, (1987 - 1995)

Prepared journal entries in connection with the monthly closing of the general ledger.

Developed and prepared variance analysis reporting to upper management. Prepared monthly,

quarterly, and annual cost of sales plans/forecasts and inventory plans/forecasts.

Responsible for scheduling, executing, and reporting of store level and distribution

center physical inventories.

Served three months as Accounting Manager for LensCrafters Canada at the Toronto

Headquarters where I oversaw the acquisition and integration of the EyeMasters chain,

resulting in a doubling of revenue for the division.

Developed policy and processes for reviewing inventory for possible markdowns and

obsolescence recognition.

Created data integrity reporting and established processes to ensure proper control over

sku-level costing.
